Question Which FD would you pick?

Choice 1: all stock 94 R2 with 30K miles

OR

Choice 2: 94 touring with 75K miles, a new motor and some mild mods.

I have narrowed it down to these 2 and they are similarly priced and in very good cond, so which would would you pick?

Thanks

thats a tough choice. what are the boost patterns on each of the cars and what is the compression on each motor. if it came down to both cars having great compression and boost pattern, i personally would go w/ the r2 w/ 30k miles. i would think this car has taken less of a beating and i like to buy a car stock. drive it around for a while, then mod it w/ the parts i want and the way i want to. that's just how i am.

Pretty much a personal choice. The lower mile car is probably in better shape overall but you can't just go by mileage. Drive both and see which one you like better.

Sunroof vs. non-sunroof...

Well.... Me personally I would go for the R2 cause I dont really like the moonroof or leather seats. I just dont think sports car should have leather seats. But like already mentioned drive them both and see which one you like better. What color is the R2 btw?

after owning a touring for about a year i have learned that i rarely use the sunroof. im also in the process of swapping out the ugly tan leather for some nice black cloth. with that being said, the R2 no doubt. its also lighter and should come with the wing and front spoler

the r2 may hold it's value better because of the low miles, it also will have the stiffer suspension. although i wouldn't consider leather and a sunroof a bad thing!

I agree. If you are looking for something with better value down the line, the R2 is your choice.

However, if you are like me and love sunroofs, then the touring is the one you want. Personally, I would never own a FD without a sunroof.

Assuming both cars are in good condition, and depending on what mods the person has done, I would go for the touring as the sunroof is a must...for me at least. Suspension on mine was already done when I bought it.

i agree, sometimes i like to jus chill in my car, not always have as a race car and stuff.i love leather i dont know wut u guys are talking about, those seats are so nice jus to sit in and relax after a hard day. almost everyone that has sat in my seats love how they feel, i dunno i havent sat in the clothe ones, but i dont like them in any other car so they cant be any different. i think the ladies like the leather to. i dunno jus my thoughts

That would be easy for me the r2 of course. Hate a sunroof on an fd, like the pseudo suede, like the dual coolers, like the strut tower bar, like the stiffer shocks, etc.. Also would prefer low mileage vs high, and prefer oem engine, vs reman....

I'm leaning towards the R2 since I have owned a touring before. Sunroof is nice but did not use it too much, I usually left it at the tilt position. Too hot here most of the time. I do like the bose in the touring and the guy has it upgraded with an aftermarket CD player with bose stuff and its sounds good enough for me. I hope I dont miss the rear wiper Its still a tough decision for me to make.

Thanks everyone

I'd like a little more info. but since you did'nt give more i'd say the R2. but it depends on what the mods are, and if there what you want.

i'd go for the R2 given the provided info. you get to start with a clean slate, but you need to drive them and see.

one could have many miles that are all highway and the other could have few that are all city. so the amount of time each car has actually been running would even out. basically i'm saying you cant go by just mileage.

I agree with Fritz (except for 'hating' the sunroof, it doesn't matter much to me either way), so no need to repeat. Get the R2!

R2 for sure. I dont think sunroofs are all that anyways, especially in real sports cars, just my opinion though. Also the dual oil coolers, stiffer suspension, front and rear spoilers are great. Oh almost forgot about the interior, much more attractive that the tan leather which is pretty apparent since most people with tourings do a swap later down the line...choice is up to you though!! good luck

I'd get the R2 just because it's more rare and I have one.

The day I hit the lotto I will have two FDs. I was fighting with the same problem when I was deciding on to either get a R2 or a Touring. But I decided for a sports car I didnt want the leather or the roof. So my R2 will have to do now. But who knows maybe one day I'll have a touring and have those leather seats and that moonroof.
