FD or turboII tranny?

well im getting ready to drop my engine into my fd. Im going to be at about 550 whp. just curious as to if i should drop the Fd transmission in with it or turboII. i got 4 of each tranmissions i jjust dont want to keep blowing up an fd tranny. i know the turboII takes a good beating. but will the Fd take the beating also?

The T2 tranny is designed for a different mounting system and slave cylinder, so it wouldn't be a direct swap. I'm not sure the T2 tranny is any stronger. They are both the same basic type/family of transmission but figure an FD tranny has endured higher power levels over its life.

FD and FC turbo transmissions are functionally identical. They're both the Type R transmission, there's some minor internal differences and updates to the design with the FD and the FD transmission also has many external differences so it will bolt in (power plant frame, pull clutch, different slave cylinder, etc.

There's absolutely no reason to run an FC trans on an FD. Period.

If you want a fresh and lively FD trans, get a used one off Ebay, they go around $350-400 all day long. Every one I've seen have worked awesome too.

The load bearing components of the T2 and FD transmission are the same.

Mazda. Malloy if you want one that's in stock and reasonably priced.

I strongly recommend you disassemble a couple of them and use the 5th gear and sleeve that has the sharpest teeth. (The teeth that sandwich the synchro).
