FD Single Turbos - Are They The Wave Of The Future??
There seems lately to be a strong interest in single turbo conversions for FDs. There have been many people converting and many planning or are considering it. I'd like to know from the people that have already converted what their honest opions are on this major decision. I think it would help all of us that are doing it or considering doing this. I'm looking for honest posts of both the "good, the bad and the ugly".
I think this conversion is not just for the racers (drag and road).

I havent gone single turbo, but it's planned for the near future.
I'm going with the A'pex rx6 ballbearing turbo. It's good for ~400rwhp and is a little tame when compared to some of the Greddy turbos-- it does on the other hand have the benefit of minimal lag and is very streetable. T-78 and T-88 turbos produce ridiculous amounts of power, but have a lot of turbo lag...it might be too much power for the street, and better suited for drag racing....unusable power IMO if you're into twisty roads. Smaller turbos like the t04 and rx6 also have a slight chance of passing smog

Wave of the future? more like wave of the past. It is like forfeiting a complicate modern (not really) stock setup with twins for and great power curve to an old school 1 single turbo. It is just the cheapest way to get big power, that is it.
Not saying I wouldn't go single, just saying it is a more basic form, and less modern than having a sequential twn setup. You will never see production cars come out with the kind of single turbos people are slapping on.
If I had the cash I would go uprgaded twin though. more benefits IMHO.
ciao
p.s. damn I am opinionated lately, sorry guys

If you got turbo mag a few months ago there was a orange fd in there. It had GT 2835 twins... Very sweet... If you want a twin setup plan on spening on about 8-12k just for the turbos and the other stuff that you need... This isnt including the price of the intercooler and stuff like that. HKS is rumored to be producing a twin setup with theGT 2835's that is susposted to run between 9-10k
