FD ride for a trip????
anyone taken their FD on a trip? I want to go somewhere but I don't have another car and I don't think my dad will let me use his so will the FD be ok for driving on the expressway for extended periods of time? Lets say 5 hours, 10 hours, 15 hours etc. How does the car hold up?

You do realize that it's still a car, right? I mean it was designed with this in mind....
It's not going to blow up.
The only real problem I see is finding the right type of fuel for your car....
Also, the car is stiff so if you have a bad back it's going to be a painful drive...

yeah I realize this just I was not sure if it would start getting too hot or anything. I know it will be stiff, especially after I put my racing beat springs on tomorrow

FD runs really well and the seats are pretty comfortable. I take a break every 2-3 hrs. After 2-3 hrs of continueous driving, the back can start to feel numb. Make sure you check your tire pressures, top off all fluids before the trip. Bring a little bit of water and a quart of engine oil just in case you run into some small problems and there isn't any service stations around.

The guy I bought my car from took it from Denver to Atlanta a couple times, that's gotta be about 1500 miles. I have driven it on several 500 mile trips. The car loves extended highway driving. Like what has been said, your back may get a little sore. I just wish the seats had an adjustable lumbar support.

I don't know what you're talking about, I drive the hell out of mine. Everyday. I live here in NC and have on the fly gone to Baltimore, DC, wherever, whenever. Never had any trouble at all. I guess its all in your own personel car and what shape its in.

buy yourself some pre-mix - make sure your seals stay lubed. Long trips is one of the few times when the OMP really isn't as good as it should be.
It won't kill your car not to have it, but it certainly won't help matters.

I picked mine up in Orlando 2 weeks ago, then drove it back to DFW...just kept good gas in the tank and checked oil. Had all the fluids checked before I left, warmed the car up a few minutes before I left anywhere, cooled it off for a few minutes after I arrived, since I hadnt put a timer in it yet. Made the trip w/ ease, then 3 days later, I had to drive to Houston from DFW and back in a day. same story, no prob. also, somewhere around on the forum is a great thread entitled "how to prepare for a 1000 mile roadtrip" or something like that, search and you should find it.

I drove 11 hours up to Laguna Seca from San Diego a while back, I had a corbeau seat, sabelt 5pt harness, rollbar, GAB springs set on stiffest setting, and racing beat springs. After a few hours the 5pt harness started chaffing, and the bars and springs on the seat poked me. I did manage to hit 150+ at midnight on the 5 around fresno though. Car ran great! (yes I know it does not take 11 hours to get there, I hit traffic in LA)

If you are cruising on the freeway it's cool. Just depends what suspension you have and how tall you are. Other than that just worry about rock chips and have fun.

I put 1500 miles on a road trip last summer. Half of it through the mountains. The car is perfect for long drives, I found it very comfortable, very easy passing, fun blasting through the mountains. Gas mileage was around 25mpg. Just watch out for the rocks, and get an oil change. There is just not much room for luggage.
Oh well.
