Fd rear ends, whats the best and where to get it

I have the 3.90 rear in my 7 now and im looking for a 4.10 or maybe even an after market one. I was wondering where is a good place to get one? I would like to keep my 3.90 for a back up so if and when one goes out i have a backup.

I know the 4.10 is a good all around rear and tops out at around 200mph at 8k
but whats the others good for?

The search button is just above this window. The technology and most opinions haven't changed in the past month since the topic was covered heavily.

First of what do you do with the car? Drag, Autocross, or just street; if you are either of the first two your anwser will vary. I thought 3.90's were in autos only. Oh and try searching I looked this info up not long ago it does exist.....

I bet his next thread is going to be

Where is the search button??? Already looked, am I missing something?

I guess he needs 4.10 gears for his 6 speed tranny.
Seeing how he's gonna be doing 200 mph @ 8k rpms.

So, while we're on the subject, who makes the "best" blinker fluid?

I used to run the 4.777 final on the street (still have that final gear, just turned the FD into a weekend warrior). I'm sure the 4.3 final would be a better choice than the 4.1 and much better than my 4.7

IIRC the 4.33 is a 5.6% change over the 4.10 (stock 5spd) and I would not recommend going that route unless you are auto-xing. If you are spending the $$ to switch from a 3.90 to a 4.10 then it might just be worth it to switch to a 4.33. I'd love to test drive an automatic with 4.33.

The 4.77 would be great for auto-x, less great for the street.

I do several auto-xes and also run my car on the street so I went 4.33, I feel more grunt out of the tight stuff but it isn't a dramatic change.

I've driven a 4.77 equipped car on the street but not on the auto-x course (yet?). The car is seriously "jumpy", any input into the throttle really makes it jump. Freeway revs could get tiresome.

I did the switchover recently and like the difference. Got my 4.1 LSD on EBAY. I replaced the seals, the companion flange, and the pinion bearing. Had the diff set up at a shop, I did the R&R. The shop said It was in great condition. Total investment for the diff and shipping, the parts and shipping, the shop setup - less than $250.00. My time - a weekend. I also kept the 3.9 as a backup.

so did most of you guys get yours from e-bay? where does the 4.7 come from I know the 4.33 is from jpan 99 and newer and the 4.10 is from usdm manuals and the 3.9 is from usdm autos.

rx7.com used to carry the 4.7. I don't think you can find it anymore. Judging from your many posts about this same subject, I think your best bet would be to find a complete diff from someone on the forum. Should be able to get a 4.10 for about $150.

200mph at 8K? Anway I say go 4.10 unless you want to drag race or autocross.
