Question FD pricing

Hey guys I am planning on getting a new car late spring to summer, and my #1 choice is an FD, how much do u think a FD in good condition will cost me, and is it better to get one with low milage or one with high milage and get a new motor???

There is a nice one in Crystal Lake for sale. It's a 95 black with 30K MINT!!! This guy babied this car. I don't know the guy except for when he came to move it from the bankone lot last night. Just a thought. by the way he was looking for $20K, well worth it.

I say high milage and get a new motor, that way its cheaper and you know exactly what happen to the engine. If you take care of it, it will last you, but even a low millage car could have been driven to crap in a very short time.

Good luck what ever you decide

Find an all stock no mods if possible maybe with a low milage on motor but car has high milage.
I bought mine bone stock 89K on car and 10K on Rotary installed rebuild from Mazda from previous owner.

I have a new spare 93FD Service manual if you want to work on your car your self. get to know the FD inside out. You will enjoy it more than just drive it.

I agree with powermalex. No mods. no telling what the last monkey owner may have done to the car. Get low miles, too... the lower the better. Don't be afraid of new engine 7's, it doesn't mean they've been abused. I baby mine and saw the 2nd engine go into it. get one that's clean. Mine was a little above market value, but it was absolutely pristine.

One more thing. DO A CARFAX ON IT BEFORE YOU BUY!!

just my $.02

In the winter? I dont think so. Spend a grand or so on a beater as well -> You'll need it later anyways.

I drove my rx-7 the first year I came up to the northeast from Texas. I ran all seasons. They were terrible, I should have used snow tires but, just the streets were plowed all day and night. Overall it was nerve wrecking because I constantly had close encounters with people overshooting their braking and sliding because of ice...etc. I decided I couldn't trust other drivers and found it better to get a dedicate winter car. After trying a dedicated winter car I decided to get rid of it and use my wife's SUV. It seems that if someone is going to crash into you anyway, might as well be comfortable The SUV had the added bonus of not clearing the snow around it before driving off.

cheers

shyeah, I wouldn't dare drive the 7 in snow. I've had fun in my old 240SX (FR) with snow tires, but the boost pattern on the 7 can be scary enough on dry roads, let alone snowy slick, black-ice covered roads with 10,000 other people in massive SUV's that have never seen snow in their life, let alone driven a 2 ton vehicle in it, just waiting to run the next intersection and make the rest of the FD's that much more rare.......

IMHO

i dont remember who it was Series7 or Mild7 who told me they got their FD 93 R1 for only 7500. However he did tell me that the guy really could care less about the car. It had some boost problems and needed a paint job, but that's still a steal of a deal.
