FD Price

My budget is REALLY TIGHT!...not because that i am broke, but because of health insurance. if i go over certain limits they will end my policy. so the amount i can spend is 4-5Gs the most.
can anyone tell me what i can get out of that?...i know it'll be salvaged or fucked up but i don't care...and i want more specific details and what people have to say or think about it.

******* gay....

You are in the wrong section if you want any FD for that amount. I've seen car's wrecked or with blown engines go for more than what you are willing to dish out.

/\ I don't understand your health insurance policy!! What the hell kind of health insurance keeps you from buying a car? I know you say you're not broke but if your health insurance is so much that you can't buy a car that's not f***ed up, then you're pretty broke. Your health is more important anyway But I'm still confused.

4-5k will buy a rolling shell. 3k will buy a motor and tranny, or 5k will buy a full front clip. That should leave you with a big mess, many more things to buy, and after some more work, a functioning car.

Just buy a FC....You can get one for that price and will probably run longer with no problems than the FD

I'm not knocking you or anything because I definitely don't know your situation. And to make myself clear I believe that people should be entitled to own anything they want that isn't destructive in nature. With that said, to build an FD is going to cost a lot of money...probably a lot more money than buying one in decent shape for 12K. What I'm getting at is if you have low income family insurance then concentrate on getting off of the low income thing and save your money. Like I said, I'm not knocking on ya but if you can afford an FD and you're just trying to stay under a certain amount to keep low income insurance...that's kinda like driving a Mercedes and going shoping with food stamps Family first man

A FD is definitely not what you are looking for. The are excusses to throw your money away. I have 4,000 in parts at the end of my bed waiting to go on the car when I get time.

This doesn't make a lot of sense...i think you only have 4 or 5 thousand and the other crap you are saying is BS. Anyway, lets just assume you are telling the truth...How on earth would your insurance company know what you spent on a car? Do they they come by and ask each family member for their registrations and check the tax paid amount?
This is pretty obvious....you could buy an FD for 12K or so, and just have the seller write out the bill of sale for 5K. End of problem.

We probably do not know your whole situation and that has been said already. But, Do your best to spend the money provided to you by the government on school. You shouldnt go around blowing that money on expensive cars but on things that will help your situation or help you get out of whatever situation you are in.

Invest in an education, not what is left of a car.

well it is just the left overs that i want to spend on FD....
and it's not bullshit..i don't know how they will know if i buy a car, but it has happened to my friend. his family was in low income and when he bought an 1990 toyota corolla for 4Gs and it had a clean title....then his health insurance company somehow found out and just said they were gonna cancel their policy...so i was like what the ****?...so don't ask me how they work..because i don't know..goverment can do hella ****.

This tread is leaving me with a headache and scratching my head...i think what you should look into getting is a FC not FD, its not that easy to just buy everything you think youll need and slap it together no problem, thats a serious project and not for an inexperienced person IMHO. maybe im wrong tho idk...

wow, talk about bad priorities...

If you are on low income health insurance, its because you are low income and cant afford any better. People that have 12-15k to blow on TOYS (FD's are toys, any 10+yr old sports car that cost more than alot of new cars is) do not bottom scrape for free/dirt cheap insurance.

I've friends that arent well off either. They get government assistance. Time to time they come across a large chunk of money. Nearly always that chunk is to help them get on their feet and able to make more money. (a great country we live in) More often than not however, they make stupid decisions which leave them with temporary gratification, and then back into the exact same position they were in before. Its those decision making "skills" that put them where they are in the first place unfortuanatly.

You dont have the money to buy health insurance and you want to buy one of the most unreliable, money pit cars in the last 20yrs. It would make a great ornament in the driveway once it needed repairs I guess....

Well "low income" status and cheap insurance/housing provided as a result is subsidized by the rest of us tax payers, so yes... we take a little offense at somebody essentially taking a handout because they're too poor to properly feed, house, and insure their family when they turn around and buy an expensive toy.

Spend your 5k more wisely now, and someday you won't have big brother telling you how to spend what you have.

Sorry.

How about you use the 4-5k that you want to buy an FD for (deal of the century for you by the way)... & spend it where you should... on your family.

Why should hard working tax payers spend their money to give you free health insurance, when you have enough money to buy a car that is a money pit like the FD... do you think that you deserve free health care, even if you can afford it? Sounds to me like you are abusing a system that is meant to make sure people who can't afford health insurance get it provided... if you can afford a $10,000+ toy... you can afford to pay for insurance...
