FD Hinge Restoration?
FD Hinge Restoration?
I'll get straight to the point. I've been dealing with a sagging passenger side door for a while now and want to fix this issue before I get the car painted. I've seen the threads on the FB hinge restoration and how they replace the hinge pin and bushings. So I'm wondering if this is possible on the FD hinges. I've also looked for new ones with no luck. Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks

you have a couple of options depending. step one would be to see if the hinges are worn out or if its just not adjusted very well. in my miata i can lift the door and the left upper hinge is just shot.
so you can try rebuilding the hinges, Mazda has a different part number for the FD, but they probably bought hinges from the same place as they did for every other Mazda. possible you could get a hinge from like a miata and use that pin and bushing.
also possible the dorman kit works on the FD too, or maybe you end up making pins.
plan B would be to adjust the door and take the play into account. for instance my miata sags ~1/8" and i could just raise the door 1/8" and it would work. play would be there, but it would be better than it is now.
