the fd is having trouble

my car is acting up and having alot of water temp problems and doesn't sound right when revved. it doesn't drive right and i have no idea what the problem is. if someone could possible help me source the problem i would be greatly appreciative. there is also a strange groaning noise coming from around my radiator if anyone has any ideas on what this could be please let me know. any help suggestions or even possible ideas of what could be wrong would be very helpful.

Thats the most vague post i have ever read.

Thats like saying, "Help me find my brother, he is 5'3 and wears glasses. He could be anywhere in the 50 states".

Translation. WE NEED MORE INFO.

ok well i think i might have a coolant leak after looking at it more. the car will idle without temp change and then all of a sudden skyrocket like a degree a second. i checked coolant and oil levels and they seem to be fine. when the temp goes up some steam comes out from under the hood and it smells like coolant. is that better at all?

im running a koyo and yesterday i was working on the car and added coolant and unscrewed the ast and didnt put the lid back on tight enough and it blew off while driving making the temps soar and so i pulled over and i had already lost alot of coolant. im thinking i just need to bleed the system to make sure there arent any bubbles in the lines and im going to check all the hoses

Yes thats a bit better. I didnt mean to sound like a dick btw, i just get annoyed when people ask for help with little to no info, like we're a bunch of psychics.

First things first, i would NOT drive the car anymore. Second i would get a water temp gauge ASAP.

As far as your problems. I would check the thermostat. With the problem you stated where it seems fine at idle, then skyrocket makes me think you think its fine when its idling, then when you drive, adding different types of engine loads, the water temp will eventually rise and stay high because the thermostat is stuck closed.

I would also check the cap on your AST. Make sure you bleed the system as well.

A stuck thermostat would make it run hot as soon got up to temp because coolant isnt circulating. Check that out, could be that simple.

do some simple checks.

do the fans come on?
are you loosing any more coolant?
what temps are you seeing on the guages?
can you feel water/coolant moving in the hoses?

(burping the system isn't really gonna help much... prove me wrong).

first, make sure ur fans are turning on.
second, like grimple suggested. SQUEEZE the upper radiator hose and feel for coolant movements.
third, get urself a radiator pressure tester. And pressure test your cooling system and look for leaks.
Also, check the FSM for ways or proper way of testing your T-stat.

Hope this would be helpful in a way.

I would check the thermostat because its easy and cheap to replace.

Because thats what it sounds like. Especially since you say you were letting it idle and the car was getting hot.
