FD fuel filters, availability problems?

Hey guys -

Working on a friend's FD now and also wanting a new fuel filter for my car (it's due) and am having a fun time finding a fuel filter. Previously I've just bought the Purolator fuel filter, bolts right up and works great. Well, now it seems Purolator is discontinuing that filter - on their website, it says "availability limited to stock on hand".

Not totally sure what the price is from Mazda, but I do believe it's fairly higher last I checked. The Purolator was like $25-30 last time I bought one.

Is there a good source for a quality aftermarket bolt-in fuel filter?

Dale

Honestly the Wix filters from O'Reilly's work fine, or call Malloy Mazda and get an OEM one it's about $50 shipped though.

Be careful with non-OEM filters..... we've used them before at the shop when we couldn't get ahold of a mazda one in a timely manner. We had one fresh build that was giving us a hell of a time running and really had us stumped. Turned out that the brand new generic fuel filter was bad right out of the box. That one experience was enough to make us insist on mazda OEM in this case. I've come to trust the parts from RP (rx7.com) so I'm sure that's a viable alternative

Use the Aeromotive 10 micron, it's a very high quality filter that catches more crap than the stocker (although you do have to change it more frequently). I get them from Jegs for $14/ea

Bought a RP one recently, good price, can't complain about the quality yet time might show.
