Seals are doing just fine and thanks again for the hook up

Jonathan (allrotor93), owner of Eccentric Performance gave me a set of seals to test and I typically get about 6k track miles so we will see if the E & J apex seals (ALS) can handle road racing and possibly even outlast stock seals, or 3mm atkins which are the two types of seals that were in the previous 2 engines. Both the OEM and 3mm warped from heat and I slowly lost compression. Both ran but power was down.

The jury is still out but so far I've been approx 2500 miles and the engine is running strong (knock on wood/cross fingers/say a prayer etc...).

Fritz, congrats again!

Is there any info on your car you care to share? A build thread maybe? JK, but that would be a fun read. I'm always impressed with the fastest cars at local track events will usually have fewer mods than the slowest cars in the group. Its about a few key mods and seat time. I have neither right now as my car has been down for a while, lol.

Keep it up!

I am waiting to hear the verdict as well! on the seals , I think this may be first application of true track time that i've heard about for them .

And what class does the FD fall into ??

It's currently a TT2 car which is a time trial class.

Door to door is a little silly in a car like this because there isn't anyone to race. Typically the field for ST2 (class this car would run it) is 3 or 4 cars max. So basically lots of time, money and risk w/o much reward compared to lapping or time trialing.

If you feel the need to race this isn't the car. I'd suggest Spec miata or spec E30 for door to door racing but get ready to drop about 20k a year if you want to be competitive. I spend less than that on average and get a lot more track time in a much MUCH faster car although I miss out on the race rush. At this time I still feel challenged and simply driving and trying to go faster and faster just doesn't seem to get old.

Thanks guys!

I hope to run in the UTCC again next year with an improved car and plan to do some NASA events as well.

My car is pretty well setup. It's takes a big investment to turn the FD into a low 2 minute car at VIR. Also it's one of the those cars that can run hard for 30 mins.

I'm more into driving the car than building it but if you read through the last several pages of my video thread in the race tech section it will give you a pretty good idea of what my car is made of.

Congrats! It must have taken a ton of work to get to this point!

Thank god you beat out the Neon and Silverado. That would be a tough one to live down.

Thanks man.

Work probably isn't the right term I'm just passionate as **** or have tons and tons of love for this sport and that's basically all it takes.

No doubt however that Neon has a lot of money tied up in making it go fast (600 hp and 3000 pounds) so I wouldn't feel too bad which is a good thing because he will probably kick my *** next year LOL

Just searched on GOOGLE and answered my own question...

http://timingscoring.drivenasa.com/N...INAL%20ALL.pdf

Also, you were the third fastest in your session. NICE!! Two seconds faster and you'd be in the top 10. C'mon single turbo (450 RWHP, wider tires and bigger brakes)

I just saw the results and damn I think you your car is probably by far the lowest HP in the top cars . Except maybe for the CRX ( which i dont know much about )

I think your FD was probably one of the lowest HP cars there . and you still managed to get that high , thats some impressive drivingman!

And when you were chasing that M1 you were definitely getting him in the corners not just on power .

Yep as you just realized there is no classing at the UTCC which is actually what makes it really cool. It's about 1 thing and 1 thing only. Which car at the track that day is the fastest. The top 5 plus cars probably had pro drivers and big rigs with race teams in tow to get the most out of their BIG $$$$ car. Some folks think that's cheating or one hell of a long way away from grassroots but from from my point of view it's just SUPER COOL to be on track with literally some of the fastest race cars on the planet and compete against them. There is no pay out to the winner it's just FUN!!!!! Which at the end of the day is what this sport is all about and if you are so competitive that it's no longer fun well it's time to find another hobby.

That particular M1 is a super cool car. I've driven with the owner several times at BMW events and let just say it's a little faster when driven by the E30 multi champ Robert Grace.

The CRX is driven by the famous autocrosser Andy Hollis so there's a very good reason it did so well. However a CRX that makes 300 HP and weighs 2100 pounds with some aero added is a BADASS car so some credit must go to the CRX as well. Another cool car.

Again this truly is one of the most interesting track events because of the car and driver combos. It's not something you see everyday or really any other day at the grass roots level.

That is so cool I don't have enough words for it. Are there a lot of FD cars racing like you? Or were you the only one on the track that day?

Not only the only FD but the only rotary

At most of the events I attend I'm the only FD. I've only competed once or twice against another FD and it was against my friend Brent in his V8 FD.

Seeing an FD on track is becoming more and more like a UFO sighting

Fortunately there are still some dudes including you keeping the FD flag flying. Pete and I do what we can in VA to remind those modern day space ships to check their mirrors from time to time
