FD/FC tanny interchangable?

I have an auto FD and am gathering parts to do the 5spd swap. I read somewhere that the FC clutch kit is the same as the FD. So is the FC tranny the same? I have three of these and would be great but with my luck nothing is the same.

I tried to search but couldn't come up with any real answer. Please someone let me know.

The FC tranny is built for more of the drag strip and the FD is more for autocross. If that helps you out at all. They are interchangable.

Is there any more information on this? I searched but I couldn't find the thread. Which trannies are compatible?

An FC clutch will bolt on to a FD engine/flywheel.
One system is Push type, the other is Pull type.
If you use an FC Clutch, you will need a FC tranny im pretty sure

TII will handle much more power.
Also, you can have an NA engine with the TII drivetrain.

The FC Turbo2 tranny is very similar to the FD tranny. But it won't bolt into the powerplant frame in back and it has a different clutch setup in front.

You could mate the bellhousing and extension housing from an FD to a T2 tranny but what's the point? A 5 speed swap is enough details already and FD trannys are easy to find.

Having extensively done FD and FC clutch jobs, I can tell you that it's NOT an easy swap or anything. The basic guts of the trannies are the same/same-ish, but the FD tranny has a different bellhousing, different clutch fork, different mounting spot for the slave cylinder, and provisions for the powerplant frame to bolt on. Also, the electrical sensors on the tranny have different plugs.

If I had a bad tranny, and an FC guy gave me a tranny, I'd sell the FC tranny and buy an FD tranny.

I've seen more FD JDM trannies popping up on Ebay for $300-500. That's a damn good way to go.
