fd/fc/rx8?

OK,

maybe a stupid question but me and a friend are planning to put a 13brew in a datsun 120 ute , and was wondering which manual trans to use?

the fd or the turbo 2 which they tell us is shorter in length? and the turbo2 is more robust?

or just go with the fd trans not much difference between them?

already have a spare fd trans so much easier but I thought i would ask just to be sure

meh, i think the FC TII tranny is better for universal applications due to the lack of the needed PPF with the FD transmission.

don't even ask about the RX8 6 speed, you will regret it if you go that route.

and there is almost no difference in strength between the FD and TII transmissions, the FDs just break syncros more often because they are abused more and have a shorter shift throw than FCs do, so more missed shifts into third(read as mis-shifted into 5th and pop, broken 5th syncro).

I agree with Karack. The T2 transmissions are set up for a regular crossmember style mounting. It uses a push-type clutch with the slave cylinder on top of the bellhousing.

Agree again, I can see the PPF setup giving you trouble if you take the FD route
