fd engine problem

does anyone having experience with engine making noise like ticking sound?

There is a thread in here somewhere about a guy experiencing ticking noises, he thinks its his turbos, but people directed him to look at other things. I'll see if I can find it.

He was joking, no they do not have lifters.


It is probably a small exhaust leak between the manifold and the engine. Mine did the same think.

I guess if your fuel injectors are loud enough you can hear a clicking sound there. I remember during my conversion to single turbo, i had the fuel injector relays switched between my 550s and my 1600s so my 1600 where acting as primary injectors and where extremely loud with clicking.

my jetta clicked when i changed my spark plugs for a while. i think it was the new rotor cap though....

Yeah, that's another possiblity - bad spark plugs arcing to ground will make a ticking noise as well.
