if you have a clean bay already, a nice way to keep it clean is 50/50 water and simple green in a sprtay bottle. spray and let sit for a couple mintues, then rinse away. i do this to all my cars

normal degreaser, BUT it left a sheen that i needed to use soap and water to clean off. then i used a spray wax just to top it off.

lol.. that before shot is scary.. reminds me of my red FD when I bought it. I suggest getting in there when the engine is out with various brushes right down to a couple of toothbrushes. Actually get in the engine bay so you can really see everything.

Cleaning an engine bay isn't rocket science.

A quality degreaser and work will do wonders.

For oxidized metals steel wool works well, you will just need to wipe away the shavings that remain.

It's obvious that the engine bay paint will fade & stain over years of heat and use. Though painting the bay is the best way to bring it back to new, it may not be practical until you need a rebuild or going single.

Dust & dirt? Seriously?

Soak it with degreaser, power spray it, and get in there for a few hours with some elbow grease.

Yeah, Dont ask me How...but for some reason there is Dust/Dirt...in every single Crack.. i probobly have to take everything apart..lol.. im assuming the Alternator is full of dirt and any other open area within the Engine/engine bay..but im Looking Forward to Removing the Engine.. Soaking it with Degreaser(like u Mentioned- and Spraying the heck out of it) lol.. yeah...ill have some before and After Pics...

wait wait...I think I might have misunderstood someone in here...are we suppose to take the engine out to clean the engine bay? Or are we allowed to keep the engine in the bay and clean it (obviousy being careful where you spray the cleanser)...??

If you read the link I posted in the beginning of this thread instead of most of the crap later in this thread, you'll read how to clean the engine bay.

You're allowed to leave the engine in, but you have to PM Mahjik for permission first. You should never do anything to your car without asking the forum first.

Just to clarify, i was doing a single turbo upgrade on those before and after pics. Cleaning it was a secondary goal.

Its going good. winter project. doing a hell of a lot at once. we will see how this goes. but shes looks beautiful and i dont regret one bit of it. Im a polished engine bay type of guy, so gutting everything was worth while.

I wish i could pull the abs lines to get behind them...
