The FD's ring gear diameter is 8.0" (203mm) and it's fastened to the differential using 10 bolts. GM's 10-bolt ring gear is 7.5" in diameter and the 12-bolt is 8.875" in diameter, so the FD's ring gear is probably slightly stronger than a GM 10-bolt.
