Question FD a daily driver??????

Hello all, first time poster!!

Im in the market for a new ride, and was looking toward an fc/fd depending on price and condition. Now i live in dallas, and the only place to find an fd is LA Motors. Now they got an 93' FD with 140k miles on the car(OUCH!!), yet a new Rotary Performance engine in it.(got about 50 miles on it) Downpipe, cat-back, new paint job...makes the car sound like a fun ride. Now for 14k i can afford this FD.

Im currently driving a 99' Prelude SH. Like the car for the most part but doesnt have the power or potential im looking for. I would be selling the lude for the FD so both isnt an option. My questions are...

1. What are chances of pulling off an FD as a daily driver?
2. What causes the seals to go out on the rotary parts, stress or just time?
3. If possible what are the steps to lengthen engine life?

Thx

I use it as a daily driver.
1. Expect to spend a grand or so a year on unforeseen problems. This isn't counting upgrades. As I have always said the purchase price is just the beginning. Everybody has a difficult time understanding this when in your position, but after a year or two of ownership I think most people can relate to what I'm saying. Don't use your Honda as a reference; with regard to operating costs it's nothing like a Honda. Think Ferrari, Porsche, ect.

2. Both. Do a search on this forum.

3. Anything that will help prevent the car from overheating or detonating will protect against engine failure. As far as improving fatigue life, I'm not aware of anything you can do. It seems like most motors die a sudden death for the above reasons before reaching the end of their fatigue lifespan.

*4. It drinks fuel like no other!

*5. Insurance is high

*6. Despite all this I have a blast driving it and don't have any regrets about the money I've spent. If you have disposable income to support the car I fully recomend it. However, if you think you can avoid expenses, or can absorb a couple maintance bill hits, but can't do so repeatedly, I think you'll find it's a very frustrating car to own.

No, dont use it as a daily driver, unless you can afford it. Pick a civic or something for daily abuse.

That way you'll appreciate the FD even more.

Thx for the replies guys. Sorry about newbing the forums without searching properly for fd research. Looks like ill prolly be setting aside some extra money every paycheck for the fd but i dont have a problem with that. Think ill stick to researching for a while though before i decide to man an RX as a daily driver.

Im getting an fc for daily uise, an 1987 na gtu. That car is freakin immortal, my old one made it to 223k miles, then I sold it. Not much parts broke, it was truly a reliable car, and a trip to drive.
