FD broke :( saddest day ever!

So I was driving on the freeway after getting a tune up, and I noticed a weird sounds, and slight power loss. I was going on the fast lane, so i just decided to start pulling to the slow lane, when I get to the slow lane I notice that eventhough my engine is reving up, and I'm in gear, that it's just not outputting any power to the wheels. As soon as I get on the emergency lane, my tires lock completely and I slide about a good 5-7 feet.

Luckily, my tires didn't lock up when on the fast lane, that could have lead to potential damage to me, or other people. Anyways, now my tires are locked up, and I can't drive it. It's at the shop right now again, but I might have to get a whole new rear end they say, which kind of sucks, because it might be pricey. I also heard it could be the differential? If anyone has any input, let me know. Thanks.

Just get a used diff if that's the case, won't be that expensive if you can do it yourself...

Diffs go for $150-$200 in the for sale section. Not too bad considering a new one is about $2500.00. It took me about 4 hours to swap mine out and also makes the fuel filter change easy.

not exactly a bolt up replacement...but if you have the know how, can be built into a triple clutch type with a few additional OEM splices of pie...
