Sounds like a good deal if the rest of the car is in decent shape. Do you know what caused the engine failure? If it was an apex seal it may have damaged the turbos as well. If it overheated be sure to check out the cooling system, on second thought, do that regardless. Also I would put it up on a lift and have someone check the suspension bushings. If they are shot that will run you another 500+
Other people will disagree with me, but I think these cars have a short life span, therefore I encourage you to buy the lowest mileage example that you can afford. Mileage doesn't always corilate with condition, but it's a good rule of thumb. The point is, the engine is just one of many things that can go, don't neglect the other stuff.
