Question Fc commander

I just bought a '93 R1, and am getting rid of my '95 240. So my question is, it came with the power fc ecu but the guy who i bought the car from did somthing with the "commander" part of it(i don't have it), So now I don't know how everthing is tuned, like the boost, water temp, ect... So being that i probably should get that, where should i get it for the best price, so far i haven't found that many "good" sites for rx-7 parts so a little help would be appreciated, thanks.

The PFC and commander are mostly sold in sets now, but it looks like you can get just the commander here: http://www.rx7.com/store/rx7/fdecu.html

You will probably also want, and in the end find more useful, the datalogit software that allows you to plug the Power FC into your laptop and monitor/tune virtually all of the PFC funtions.

To be honest, I would just get the datalogit with a laptop and forget messing around with the handheld. It's nice if you just want to monitor or make small changes when you don't have the laptop in the car.

Who the hell drives around with a laptop hooked up all the time?

The Commander makes for very nice monitoring and diagnostic tool. The datalogit is for tuning, not monitoring.

So i'm taking it that as long as you have a laptop its better to just get the software and use it for tuning. If you have the laptop setup i'm guessing that you can also use it for monitering?

Yes, if you have a laptop in the car, you can set up "watches" that you can use to monitor the various sensor readings.
