Faulty oil level sender?

Was driving and the oil level light came on, but kinda flickered when I hit small bumps and sometimes went off or flickered rapidly on/off depending on the road surface, pulled over checked oil and it seems fine (hard to see but it's a touch above F)

these things fail a lot? Ray's got em for $94, anyone else have an issue with theirs?

^^ Yup! Also make sure the wire itself is not broken/fatigued - that sounds like what you have.

peel the shielding back and wiggle the wire, have someone look at cluster to see if light flickers?

I had the same problem and I got under the car to check it out. The wire somehow got pulled out of the sensor and was grounding itself on bumps making the light flicker.

I never bothered to fix it though, because I check my oil level everytime I leave the house, and I really can't imagine a catostrophic oil leak.
