Fan problems fd3s

Hey People i have some Major radiator fan Problems !!! I looked and studied the fan function and wiring etc But they won't start at 105 degrees, checked my sensor thermo switch relay etc. I put The fan pin from the Ecu on ground and the fans are running then I turned my ac on the the second stage was running so I grounder my thermo switch and the 3. stage was running !! So the three stages are working The only thing I didn't check was the el-unit but I cannot find it Can someone tell me where to look for the EL UNIT ?? Or some advices Thanks

The fan relays are located on the passenger side of the engine bay. Make sure they are all plugged in securely. If they have come loose, fan operation will be affected.

the EL unit is over by the ECU, mounted to a small bracket. It's a relatively small thing, with only 1 connector going into it.

that little black box is the recall for the cooling fan mod. The EL unit should be over there somewhere and it's a silver box.

Be careful though, both the recall box and the EL unit have the EXACT same connector, label them accordingly

On second thought, does your car have the recall done? if you look at the wiring, its like a patch harness between the blue connector that come from the PS front harness, to which there is a 16 pin black connector going to the black box.

like I said, the EL unit and the recall box have the exact same connector. But, if your car does not have the recall box installed then you don't have to worry about it.

The recall was a mod that dealers were supposed to install that does something to how the fans react or something or other. I'm not exactly sure.

honestly, I don't know if the Jspec cars are the same.

But, what you can do it for that 16 pin connector you do have going to the black box, look at the wire and color code them to see if that's it.

Also, I do not think the EL unit is the source of your problem. I think it's the relays.

I looked at the black box and compared it with the amount of pins and wire colors in the wiring diagramm it ain't the same!!

On the diagram goes the harness from. The Ecu connector to the fan relays and between them is the el unit connected !!

I cannot find that unit that's the only thing I didn't checked,

I don't thing that the relays are broke because I groundet the pin D3 from the Ecu connector and the fans are working fine !!!

The Ecu says when the fan should be running right ? And not the el unit

The EL unit by definition, electrical load, adjusts the idle of the car to compensate for load, like the AC compressor being on, the fan motor, etc...

I'm not sure if it really has anything to do with the fan control

Oh so it's just a signal for the idle?

I'm running apexi power fc, could that be a failure ? The Ecu itself ??

Because I checked the 4 relays and they are working, the thermo switch is working
Looked at the power fc hand control and got 105 degrees water temp.

Could it be that the Ecu is not responding on that ?

A nother question there is one cable on the left side where the oil filler neck is
Is that cable for the add cooland??

Ok do you have a datalogit or someone near you with one

The fans may be set to turn on later then they should be

Second is double check those relays there are 4 of them 3 that are the same and one different thats for the ac

The 3 that are the same 2 are controlled by the ecu and one by the thermoswitch buuuut the themoswitch speed is just a ground so if the other two temp based ecu controlled relays are bad then the thermoswitch wont work

Ive had one of my fan relays go bad before good luxk and get back to us

Also you can try replacing the relays use the thermoswitch relay and replace one of the other relays see if the fans feel like kicking on its easier if you had a datalogit cus you can control when the fans switch on so its easier to play with a cold motor

Thank you for your comment !!!

I will take your advice and will replace and check those 3 relays !!

I have a guy with a Datalogit but he is kinda busy so will wait till he have some space and give me his Datalogit !!

Could it be the Ecu it self ???? A broke Ecu?

I had it once tuned and the tuner asked me why the fans don't work !!! I suggest he tried Ty reduce the temp. On Datalogit for the fans

So I searched for the problems but never found one!!!

The only way I cool my engine is with the ac !!! The only way my fans are working, I drove today with 30 degrees weather temp. But my water temp. Was max. 87 degrees I think that's a good temp. For a Rx or???

Hey you guys.....

I was on my way to check the fan problems with the Datalogit...

The next problem came up, drove into the garage and the engine died!!!

Looked at my power fc and noticed that it was death, also was my boost controller death

So I went to the diagnostic connector and added a cable from batterie plus to the
F/P pinout port ( fuel pump relay coil) and suddenly my power fc and avcr boost controller
Got juice and works fine, I even can start my engine with that cable ???!!!

Is that normal

I'm kinda lost, I have this electrical problems all the time

Is some relay broke or the ignition switch ? Or just a broke cable ??
