Fan Mod Benefits

After installing my PFC I started monitoring my cars water temp. Heres what I noticed.

Without the fans on the water temp pretty much holds at 92 degrees C.

After switching the fans onto low speed the water temp drops to 87 degrees C.

If I turned the fans off the temp would rise again, once I turned them back on the temp would lower.

Has anyone else tried this and noticed a similar results?

Mine stays at about 90*C without the fans on, and goes down to about 82*C with them on. But I also have a Koyo so...

You have discovered that the fans make the car run cooler when they are on. Congratulations, and thanks for letting us know.

Hummmm......

Above 30-40 mph in normal driving (no boost or high rpms) with outside temps below 80 my car will stay at 81-84 C.

Stop & go driving my fan will cycle on @ 95 C & drive the temps down to 81-84 C in the same outside temps.

Not sure what your point was in your post. Are you saying you NEED to run your fans ALL THE TIME to get temps under 90 C?

Do you have the stock Rad? How old is it? Could it be blocked up & not as efficient anymore? New thermostat & coolant?

The real benefit with the fan mod is this (IMO), you can help the car cool down after you've parked so you don't get a spike in water temp (which can also help your O-rings live longer), but also when it's really hot out and in slow traffic or at a stop. Heat kills rotarys as you know so it just gives you more control. Still, an upgraded radiator would be best (AST too).
