Fan mod
I am trying to learn how to do the fan mod, and find what parts i need to do it. I used the search, but everyone just talks about how important it is. If someone can point me in the right direction, my FD will stay cool in all this Geargia heat.

I did a little search and found a "10 sec" fan mod. All you do is pull out your a/c relay and put your a/c on full blast. You wont have a/c but yer fans will stay on.

Here is the easiest way: Take the blue wire coming out of the fan on the passenger side and tap a wire into it. run that wire through the firewall connect it to a $2 switch from radio shack and then into the fuse box I used the cig lighter. Now anytime the car is running and the switch is on the fan is on med speed. Turn the A/c on and it will be on high

But I'm a little confused on the the fuse box. Are we to tap into it or something? Thanks.

Just remove the passenger kick panel, and find the spare wire hanging off the back of your ecu. Turn your ignition key to the "on" position. Take the wire and touch a ground. The fans should come on. (that's the test part...) then, wire in a 2 pole switch to that wire, and you're in... Just turn the switch on when in traffic or whatever, and it grounds the wire, turning on the fans. 2 minutes before you shut the car down, turn on the switch. Shut the car down and the fans will stay on. After 30 seconds, turn off the switch and the fans will switch to low speed, and stay on for 10 more minutes.
I'm not sure if leaving the wire grounded (or switch turned on) will kill your battery or not... I leave mine on all the time, and killed my original battery. I don't know if it was from leaving the switch on or not.... 6 months have passed and my new battery is still good.
I don't know if you have to have the fan recall done in order for this to work or not... I believe so... Just go to the Mazda dealership, have them run the VIN and they can tell you if the recalls have been done. Sorry for the long post. Hope this helps!!!!

Leaving the switch on will slowly drain the battery because it opens the relay (even with the car off). It takes a few days to completely drain the battery from what I've heard due to this, but since fully drained batterys are never quite the same its not recommeneded.
