factory mud flaps.....found 'em!

I called the local Mazda dealer today and asked if there was any way to still purchase the factory stone guards/mud flaps for a 3rd Gen and the guy just said..... "Sure, what color do you need?"
I was surprised, and then I told him to order me a front and rear set and gave him the old credit card number....too cool!
$85 for the front pair, $89 for the rear pair.....

You better stop that order and make sure they know what you are talking about. You want the (I guess fiberglass) pieces which are molded on and look kinda like a mini body kit, right? I doubt that is what the dealership thinks you mean. There are also plain ol ugly plastic mud gaurds that are stuck on for the sole purpose of gaurding mud.

This is true as far as I know. Something you might want to check into.

thats tru TouringFD3S

i think he is talking about the plain black mud guards.

Im talking about the R1/R2 mini body kit, where can i get that from!! i love that sleek look, and those little tings are real subtle and do a lot for the car.

If you are talking about the piece that is on the rear of this car, I HIGHLY doubt this is the piece that you really bought for that cheap of a price.

Do they have a picture of Yosemite Sam wielding his pistols on them and a big piece of chrome trim around the base?!

Not the sideskirt, just the stone guards....dammit I can't post a pic to save my ***.....uh, ok....the white FD in one of TwinTurboTeddy's pics, the one with Volk(?) wheels has the urethane stone guards...looks like one of the red cars in his pics does to.

I grilled the guy at the parts counter to make sure he knew what he was talking about, though maybe that is an oxymoron....

But I said I wanted the molded, form fitting color matched ones and he said, yep...yep...yep....

I guess we will see.......

The factory mudguards were an option...my R1 has them, but not all R1s do. I happen to think they look very nice, thank you very much . Check out the pics at the link in my sig; those are the factory mudguards.

factory mudguards

$89 per pair is a good price. The price gouging dealer in Hickory, NC charged me $135 a pair. Molded urethane, pre-painted to factory exterior colors, a dealer installed option for all models. Sorry- no Yosemite Sam graphics are available.

To be honest with you, I have no clue. I hate that generic bolt patterend thing it has, and I never bothered to inquire as to what wheels they were.

I love those too. I never said I didn't. But to my knowledge Mazda also made real mudgaurds. Black pieces which could be put on to protect against mud. They were very ugly and I would never put them on my car. If I can get my digi to work, a guy around here has a set of them. I have also seen the pieces which are on your car, and BAJAMAN, if that is what you are getting for that price, you may be the organizer of a group buy.

If anybody needs some red front ones, $35 + ship and they're yours. Looks nice, small black dots on the underside, where you will obviously never see them. No mounting hardware (it's still on my car )

...yeah....my R1 didn't come with any either.

as the "goodfella" said -- they were an option. i remember when i first got the car back in 93, i had priced these out at the dealer, and the price originally quoted was about what the dealer had quoted me back then -- about $85/pr. i haven't checked lately, though....

$80 to $90 for each pair of color-matched mud guards sounds about right. I have both the front and rear sets. I was told that the are no longer available in CYM. And they are pretty hard to source right now. I tried to order a set of CYM for my friend and it wasn't to be found. I think they only had Montego Blue.
