That's the same with any car. You can put as much money into any car you want and make it fast, however at the end of the day, it's still whatever it was to begin with no matter how fast it is or what cars it can "beat".

I love the heck out of my FD, and I still remember the first time I saw one. Love at first site.

But when I look at the new Ford GT, we're talking blue steel wood that the cat's can use as a scratching post.

The profile of that car is second to none, and will be one of the baddest bamma jamma's to EVER hit the street. I can't wait til next year when they start to turn them out.

My fav is the dark blue / white stripe, but the Gulf color scheme looks pretty schweet also...............

Cheers.

Rick C, props to your performance @ Gingerman Raceway. You've come a long way from our first encounter way back in '99 when Phil Gray (MB PFS) duct-taped your IC hose to keep you going LOL Keep up the great work on the car!

Thanks Manny,
A lot has happened in the last 5 years. My best lap time back in 99 when we met was 1:43.XXX. Now With a "few" mods later and and 1000+ laps later I have worked it down to run consistent 1:35s and if im feeling spunky run in the 1:34s. not bad for OLD GUYS like us hey Manny? I am looking to Finally finish this car project with the Single GT40R turbo and this last and final brake mod. Then a coat of 1973 Porsche Gulf Blue, yes the same color thar Ford used ont he GT40 Actually they call it french blue in one of my GT40 books. But since i am boycotting french products, we cant use that. I will of course put the orange stripes on it and that will be the end. Then, the new SCCA formula/ spec racer is likely to find a home in my garage. 1000lbs 150 hp. Should be a fun car. I have been racing an old Spec racer this last year and it has been all sorts of fun. This new car from SCCA seems like the right move to me. Let me know what you think of it

Just for giggles...........

What do you think of this.............

A guy I know has an MG Midget, and put either a 12a or 13b rotary in it........(I forget off the top)..........

Anyway, he's says it runs great, needs some work, but is basically 1400 lbs and 180hp or so............

He says it's a bunch of fun.............and FAST..........

He wants $2800 for it.............I haven't seen it but I just wonder if that might not be a blast of a car............

I'm just used to my FD at the track, and don't know how I'd feel going 135 in something that small/light...........

hmmmmmmm.................

David that used to be a pretty popular hillclimb set-up, specifially a 12a in a sprite (practically identical to the midget). No way youd want to go much over 100mph in that combo, ,just too unstable.

Mad props on the 1:34's though 1r1. That's an awesome time.

In the now-mangled words of an earlier reply:

"At the end of the day you [would] still own a [Ford], cannot break 200mph, are no where near as reliable [since it's a Ford], and [other performance cars] can pass SMOG much easier [since it probably doesn't have a carb license yet]"
[/sarcasm]

Now *that's* flame bait.

I'm sorry to pick on TTT, but the "you would still own a Mazda" part irked me. Then several people agreed with the statement, making me go from irked to mildly pissed. I don't believe the RX7 can dominate EVERYTHING out there either. But are we all so shallow enough to believe in this brand-name crap?
I hope I'm just taking the comment the wrong way... otherwise, I'm in the wrong forum.

FWIW, I am a fan of the new GT, even though I haven't yet read anything about them breaking 200mph. That and them being a Ford and all.

BTW, nice drivin' 1RedR1.

Regarding the GT, I guess I can live with 500lbs of torque, 500hp, 0-60 in 3.2, or 3.6, or whatever...........

Gee, top speed ONLY 196..............boo-friggin-hoo.....

Like half of us even have the ***** anyway..............

One would think they'd tweak a few things here and there before major production ramps up to get it past 200mph... ya know, just to be in the "200mph club"

BTW, none of my 2nd to last post was aimed at any single person in particular.

As far as I'm concerned, everyone on this board except me, and maybe Bajaman, hates their Mazda and are brand-name ******.

I forget who said it,

But whoever said ferrari's are reliable doesent know anything about the marque.

Hell, the new enzo leaks oil and coolant like a big dog...
I would LOVE to buy a car that leaks its fluids all over the place.

Sorry buddy but some of your exotics dont have the cleanest track record in this feild...

My FD has been very reliable. I beat the hell out of it, and it has never left me stranded, never had a serious problem, and still whoops ***...
