External fuel surge tank by Lucky 7

Khello,

I just recently bought a 94 FD and it's been at Lucky 7 being built out for roughly 400 whp.

Tony @ Lucky 7 recommended a surge tank just to be on the safe side and I told him if he could make a external tank, as I felt a little uneasy about fuel running in the cabin.

So here it is.

Better under the car than in the car.

Why a fuel surge tank for 400 HP?
Is there a second fuel pump pumping to/from the surge tank?

Yeah the second pump is a Aeromotive A1000.

From what I remember, Tony had another client with a similar setup as mine, and his motor popped due to fuel starvation.

So I figured I'd rather spend a little to save a lot a later.

Aeromotive A1000 is a little much for a 400HP car, you can achive this with a supra pump, another thing is that there have been cases that those pumps heat up with long driving and fail, so if this is a street car that may not be such a good idea to use.

That is a good setup though, just would not use it if you plan to drive it on the street a lot.

Bosch 044 would be a better choice than a Aeromotive A1000

I ran an a1000 on my daily for about 8 months and it got to a point where I would have to tap it because it would get stuck. I was told the same the pump is great and pushes out fuel like a **** but prolong use shortens the life span on them.

Bah! I'm planning on doing dd with this car so it sounds like I'll have to switch the a1000 pump fairly soon? I imagine I'll have get it tuned again once the pump is switched?
