Experiences with Rotary Reliability?

Anyone had any good/bad experiences with Rotary Reliability in Santa Ana, CA? I'm probably going to get an engine rebuilt there.

Thanks

you will get the best engine anywhere...from nick

hey...

Nick did my engine....and he is doing my new engine with the 3mm ceramics....he is the only person who I will let touch that car...he and Louis.

I have had nothing but bad luck anywhere else.

Do not go to the dealers...especially irvine and anaheim mazda...unless you want to get it up the tailpipe.

I will say this too....get your motor streetported...and do the 3mm seals as well. You will not regret it if you do. The power gain is significant for very little dough and the seals will keep your engine in the engine bay...instead of on the rack cuz you didnt pay attention to fuel levels (learned my lesson).

really though...they do all my work and do many of the other local guys cars...

Their gift over there is engine work...dont take it anywhere else.

tell nick I said HI!

my car is there now...am upgrading the turbos and putting in a strong fast motor.

cya around...

what mods do you have?

Jason-

Thanks for the recommendation. I'd hadn't heard of them until a couple days ago. Mazdatrix has a 6-8 week backlog and Tri-Point was considerably more expensive than Mazdatrix or RR. I just dropped my engine off there this (Monday) morning. I am going to get it street ported.

I'm looking at upgrading my turbos (they're worn and the primary one is somewhat damaged). Why'd you choose the M2 BB twins and what do you know about them? M2 told me they are good for 350-360rwhp @ 15psi (pump gas) given the usual mods and the correct fueling (and no porting I assume). Also that spool up is about the same as stock, even though they have larger wheels than stock.

hey

thanks....heheh...I cant wait to get that car back...but its a patient wait...may be another 30 days...tis so much to do at once...my girl is gonna keeeeel me....but its happening...got my new pfc coming next week all setup for the improved fuel system and turbos...am planning on boosting 17-19 lbs once its broken in nicely and Im sure its steady....

I am going m2 for three reasons...spool up time on those are so much better than single turbo...my streetport had given me some low end loss for the high end poWER! the combination is going to make me happy. more low end lag and loss at early rpms would be disappointing.

They will be durable enough to handle higher boost levels...

It also will pass visual inspection on emissions...that kind of thing is important to me...I want to be able to drive the car....going single has its benefits and the boys at rotary did a lot of trying to convince me...but I drive the car in traffic and I drive it a lot. I dont enjoy boggy low end when Im on the city streets.

tell nick and the boys I said hello...they will help you a lot if you are decent with them and work with them....they have saved me on more than one occasion.

definitely get it ported...definitely...and do a good set of apex seals while you are at it...do as much of the reliability and strengthening stuff as you can...you will be happy when its strong enough to handle your lead foot (if you want a streetport then I know you have one hehehe)...if you arent sure what to do..ask nick...he will give you all your options...then you can thinkg about it all and make your own decisions.

what turbo you go with (as I have been told) depends on what you want to do with the car.

jason

PS...do not go with rebuilt turbos...I had to do it twice with two companies before I said FORGET IT..heheh If its one thing I learned with this car is to do it right the first time and not to skimp on things...

y does everyone say go wit 3mm seals?? 2mm hd ones and even the stock ones work just as good. And you dont have to worry about having to mill out the grove the seal goes in. J/W

Thumbs up RR, TriPoint, MazdaTrix

MazdaTrix is "ALLWAYS" backed up and will tell you to come back in 3 weeks...every time. The mechanic can tell you whats wrong from experiance without even looking.

Tri-Point seemed slightly pricy but quality work. The drawback is hard to get to from Orange County and will take a while.

I did silicone hoses, smog pump and mechanical boost controller at Rotary Reliability. I was very comfortable with Luis working on my car since he showed me around the shop (didn't hide anything) and took time explaining things. They held the shop open for an extra 1/2 hour for me to pick up my toy.

My friend is doing gauges there today.

There are two engine rebuilds there right now, so you may be in for a wait.

I've heard bad stuff about the way they take care of the cars...they come back dirty, and my bud had some scratches and cracking paint....they said they would take care of it, but such a hassle......all my buds prefer Rotary Power, but I've never been...

I dropped my car off this morning!

I come home and this thread is going. Nick is one of the biggest reasons i still have my car... He does great work and gets things done relatively quickly, especially for a specialty shop. His prices are more than reasonable as well. The only other shop I'd even think of going to is Rotary Power, but the drive is a lot farther from Tustin. Nick's gotta have like 3 black FD's in the back corner and about 4 more when I dropped off mine this morning. Add 1 yellow FD to the stable. If I ever need any engine stuff done they will be the place I choose.
Hey when everyone gets their car out of the shop we should all go somewhere for dinner and a cruise. That would really please the authorities-10 chainsaws on crack

hnmmm

hey...

wow..they are getting the business...well good..they deserve it. They have even helped me when they were closed as well. They are good about time and getting things done. Nick is an authority to say the least. i listen to him for sure.

yeah..Ill be up for a cruise...whos got the fastest one? I know that mr toadmans looks the best from what Ive seen..you all need to see it with your own eyes to believe it (the original floormats were in plastic wrapping when I saw it) haha..the car is sooooo nice.

mine is uglier than toads..but mine hauls ***! hehehe

jason

PS...did any of you hear that cars that had been taken to rotar power were turning up missing? I heard that from an rx guy one day...he said he took his car to rotary power and it turned up stolen...I dont know the guy but that is what he told me..he warned me to NOT take my car there. I havent been..but you guys seem to say good things...for now Im sticking with nick and luis.

i've taken my car to rotary power several times and actually getting my car stolen was sort of a concern the first time i went there. the shop IS sorta ghetto and there's a chain link fence around the shop and the lot but i've left my car there for a week or so and it wasn't damaged in any way. they do really good work but location is sort of a concern i guess. i guess i'll give rr&r a try next time i need something done.
