Question exhuast noise inside the car any fixes?.

Dunno if anyone has tried to insulate their exhaust thrum with insulating material on their car? I have a Greddy sp catback ,downpipe and just put on a midpipe, now its really loud espacially on trailling throttle and when i get on it of course.(I have stock twins Apexi intake and PFC)

So its loud and its my fault ,my question is has anyone managed to quieten it down a bit on the inside? dont care about the outside.

I even thought of the possibility of wrapping the entire exhaust from the manifold to the catback in that heat insulating material as it looks like the stock midpipe has a thicker wall with some aluminum on it as well to drown the sound out.

I,m no sound engineer but would this work?

I see two options

1. earplugs man, earplugs
2. Upgrade your sound system and crank it up

You missed my post yesterday! Cutting another exhaust to fit in, instead of the MP is the best solution for noise reduction and the same flow!

The ad says it will drop the exterior noise by 3 DB. anyone tried this? is there mutch sound deadening on a stock FD to speak of?

2nd gens have a ton of it .......i figure i can go at least 8 pounds and take the air pump out to compensate.

Adding sound insulation really won't do much at all. Your best bet is to weld a Borla XR-1 to the midpipe. Supposedly this lowers the sound levels by about 8 dB, a noticeable improvement. OR you can ditch the midpipe and put a hi-flow cat on.

And I AM an acoustics engineer.

weld a Borla xr1 into the midpipe?

kinda like a baffle of sorts then ,would a regular catback drop the sound by 8db too?? I know two of my freinds who have them, what i cant understand is why their cars sound not quite so loud inside, hmm time to put the thinking cap on.....
