Question Exhaust sound Q.

How would a flowmaster or borla muffler sound on a 3rd gen? (Like the ones you see put on v8's)

I want a low tone instead of the raspy sound u get from most JDM exhaust. What would be a good way to go?

As Ive stated before, I use Magnaflow because IMO (logically) its just about the best flowing exhaust you can buy, plus it sounds good. My car has a Magnaflow welded into the midpipe as a resonator, and another as the muffler, and it sounds pretty damn good, but again, IMO.

I have the same setup. At WOT it still sounds like a rotary though. BRAAAPPP

Every FD at Wot sounds very similar, IMO.

Member of local club has a Borla and it sounds nice and deep the complete opposite of my N1.

I LOVE rx7's, but i wish they didn't sound like a chain saw when u step on it. I know its a dumb thing to complain about, but the sound that comes from a certain car can be music to the ear sometimes. I just wanna find a way to smooth and lower the tone out a bit.

Doesn't the racing beat dual tip cat back have a deep sound to it? What do you think would be deeper? the RB dual cat back or replacing the muffler with a magnaflow or borla or flowmaster? I also want the deepest grumble i can get

If you want that, you're going to need to change the engine, not the exhaust

Magnaflow is always my personal recommendation. Here's a couple pics of my 3" Magnaflow with 4" tip:

personaly any exhaust with resenater will help get rid of the raspyness. i was up at a-spec checkin on my car they had a FD with buddy clubs racing spec 2 exhaust on (for tho's who dont kno theres no muffler on it. its jus a stright pipe and a resenator) with only resenator it wasnt raspy at all so basicly get a resenator your raspy troubles will be out the window

There has been a lot of good press about the MAGNAFLOW when used on rotaries, as a couple of the above posters have done. While I have not heard one personally, it sounds like a good plan to me. I have a MAGNAFLOW on my Suburban and it really makes that V8 rumble, but in a subtle, manly way....lol!

I still think the BEST replacement exhaust is the RB dual tip, personally. Sounds great and eliminates the normal rotary 'chain-saw-on-steroids' sound. Doesn't make it sound like a V8, more like a big displacement Jap bike in my opinion.

It makes the V8 in my FD rumble in a manly way too, but there's nothing subtle about it

personally if your gonna go with a v8 type exhaust i would go for the borla due to quality and looks.

had it on my mustang best sound in my opinion and just looked really clean.

I have a downpipe, high flow cat, and RB duals on my car and it sounds great, but its not like my dads LS1. Your not going to get V8 noise out of a 1.3L engine, let alone a rotary.
