Exhaust Q???
Ok, first off I know I will probably get flamed or whatever for this, but.... I want my FD to sound crazy and loud as ****. Comments aside, that's just how I have always been with my cars.
My question is this. With intake, 3inch midpipe w/ high flow cat and everything else stock (minus the 3inch catback I currently have) How risky would it be to just put a straight pipe from cat back?
I ran a 3inch DP for a while with no issues, but went back to stock and would like to catback straight pipe it. Any input as far as risking the engine? Dumb comments like "why would you want to do that?" or "That dumb" keep to yourself.
Thanks
Flik
Also, it is a JDM FD...as in I Live in Japan.

it might be ok since you're running a cat, i would think even a highflow cat is more restrictive then the catback section of an aftermarket exhaust. but keep an eye on boost creep, especially in colder weather.
Also why would you go back to a stock DP from 3"?? the downpipe is probably the number one best reliability/performance mod you can do... more so on cars that have the precat built into the DP... but still....

Constant threat
If memory serves, the JDM models didn't have a pre-cat so the stock dp should be not a whole lot different than say...a 3" Pettit. Regardless, I would have to agree that on a stock ECU, even a 16 bit ECU, you would be playing with fire and risking engine death with the setup you HAVE...let alone 'straight-piping it from the cat back'.
But yeah, you would definitely get an un-Godly sound....lol!

Basically from what I can understand so far, it's not a "MAP sensor/flow issue" (like I was worried about). It boils down to a boost control issue.
Sum up answers in my own words... Watch/Control the boost and it should be fine.
Correct?
