exhaust loudness

how loud will 3" downpipe/midpipe with Apexi N1 exhaust tip be?

will it be street legal.....will i get pulled over for being too loud when driving normally?
if so, what should i get instead?
any sound clips you have or videos would help

oh and emmisions aren't an issue.

Well rumor has always had it that N1 is very loud but I have just a cat back on my car and it is nowhere near as loud as I thought. Granted I am comparing it to my 88 gxl with headers and some cheap mufflers for exhaust but I think that with your setup your sound would be a nice throaty sound which is what I want more of out of my N1.

Its not that loud tho. I mean if your going DP then straight to the N1 I could see the sound being very loud but not just with a DP and N1.

I mean to say a mid pipe would be required to be that loud. Plus who the crap cares how loud your Rx7 is I personally think the louder the better(depending on the quality of the sound).

thats what i would say, but cops would disagree especially if theyre in a bad mood, thats why im asking. i want to knwo if i will get pulled over a lot for it, or if its even legal. i know emmissions wont be an issue because they dont check here, but exhaust always have the sound level rating and if its too loud it cant be used on the street, and with a midpipe there isnt much blocking the sound. so will it be too loud? i think it will, im just asking in case someone happens to know for sure

When I am cruising around town in mine as long as rpm's are kept under 3 grand it's ok. I of course have the silencer also for some added noise reduction. Once I get on it, it's a shriek until redline. Oh yeah, I have a 4 inch downpipe and midpipe and Apexi GT Spec, all stainless.

Where do you live? Cops must be dicks where youl live. Here in St. Pete Ive had a friend get pulled over and the cop had nothing else on him but the fact that his exhaust wasnt factory so he gave him a ticket for it.

IL, they arent really that bad, its just that my dad took his muffler off of his muscle car when he was a kid and gunned it from a light and said he got pulled over because a cop said it was too loud and got ticketed for it. and like a month ago when i was going to lunch there was an old bmw or something that was pretty loud and a cop took off after him and pulled him over in a parking lot for being too loud. neither of these cases were fully modified cars like these and what im planning, so i was just curious.

I haven't heard it personally, but I've read that Racing Beat ones aren't too loud. Maybe you can ask around.

I don't want mine to be too loud either. If the Racing Beat one does turn out to be not too loud I might get it myself... that is if I can get my car to somehow magically pass the dreaded Test Only Station smog. If not... then I have an RX-7 for sale.... dammit.

a 3 inch downpipe 3 inch high flow cat and a 3 inch Thermal Catback was ok. I got pulled over for speeding and the cop didnt say anything about it. But when that second turbo comes on.... u wont miss it.

Slap a Harley-Davidson sticker on your cat-back. The Harley guys seem to think they're annointed against problems with loud/no mufflers. Maybe it'll rub off...or not.

i had apex n1 exhaust (came with the car) .. was so loud i had to get the silencer for it (makes a big difference in decible) and yes if you live in fairfax you will get pulled over .. (stupid fairfax cops) .. anyways if i were you id go with the racing beat dual tip exhaust .. i havent gotten mine yet but i heard theyre not that loud and the dual tips look like the stock exhaust

Doesn't matter. Aftermarket mufflers have nothing to do with emissions anyway.

I think satoacs was refering to me complaining about not being able to pass test only station smog and may end up having to sell my RX7.

I didn't insult you. Where in that post did I say anything demeaning? Nothing more than a reference to aftermarket exhausts and emissions testing.

You must have been thinking about one of your other dumbass threads where I ripped you a new *** over there.
