Exhaust

Got pulled over this morning for my exhaust. It's the Apexi N1 single tip.

Got a quote from Mazda to install the factory system and that comes to around $700 without labor.

Do you guys know about quiet aftermarket exhausts for this car? Yes i could have searched but i know some of you might have been in the same situations and could help answer with what you did.

Thanks!

Racing Beat dual tip flows very well and is one of the quieter aftermarket exhausts. Also looks very stock-like with the dual tips, so it draws less attention.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm going to need to do something before the court date next month.

Get a PFS catback. The nice 4 inch single tip looks sporty and stock. And sounds cool too.

I have heard the racing beat dual compared to my custom apexi gt spec 4" at the same time, you couldnt even hear the racing beat idle over mine, ehh time for a resonator. Anyways, if not a cheaper alternative would be a silencer...

Get an RV muffler get it welded to a piece of pipe that goes onto the flange at your cat. Bolt it on, take the car and get the fix it ticket signed off. Switch the muffler back after you are done. That's what I do. I've had to do it twice now.

Edit: I'll take a pic of my set up if you want me to.

I have a M2 dual tip exhaust system (reportedly made my racing beat) that I might be selling in a couple of days.

I bought a GReedy Ti off the RX-7 Store & should get it tomorrow. I plan on dyno comparing the two. If the GReedy isn't too loud, I'll sell the M2.

Anyway, if I do sell it I'll post it in the "For Sell" section.

Wait, did you get pulled over because of noise or because the "look" was aftermarket?

Cause there are some cops that will pull you over because the exhaust was modified, not so much that its loud.

The N1 was too loud using a stock cat? Or do you have a midpipe too? I've heard the N1 with a cat and yeah, it is a little throaty but not excruciating like some.

I have the Racing Beat dual tip and it (in my opinion) is the perfect exhaust. Stock look only better, decent flow provides some real hp free-up, quality construction....hard to beat.

Yep!!! I do have a midpipe, but it's not installed. My N1 is VERY loud though, VERY!! I actually find it annoying at times, because i have no radio in the car. Just....exhaust sound.
