That's the number one reason I haven't bought a Z06 to race. I can afford the car but keeping race rubber on it would eat me up with as much racing as I do. No sense in me buying the Z06 and then not being able to race it often, so I stick with the FD whose tire size makes rubber costs about half of the Z06.
I just lost my job right now and currently looking, thats the only reason I cant do anything. Yet I agree, there is no point, Im just grateful that for now *knock on wood* shes running well.

Did he wreck it?

Someone must know....

P.S. When my touring was totaled...I took a sledge hammer to my damn Veilside wing, well actually, to the whole damn car! Made sure I would never see her again. Ironicaly, someone in the same county bought the salvage title and restored it (including the wing) and I pass it on the road occasionaly.

I did the same thing... I read your post, when back up and looked at GoRacer's avatar and then forgot AGAIN what I was going to say about your post!

I took that thing
<--------
And cut it into 4 pieces, with the frame damage and cut into 4's doubtfull that anybody's going to put humpty dumpty back together again... (My Poetic Contribution for the day)

But I do understand the withdrawal, of lingering for something cool looking and fast. So I found myself another FD, but this one had issues, MAJOR issues... and if I didn't know better I'd have said wow this is pretty fast, but the '94 I wrecked was Wickedly Fast !! I got Spoiled !

Hey Crosby, same boat here!

I could not see my self, well back then anyway, in anything else but an FD.....so I bought my second one.

If I were to do it again today......not so sure that I would come back.

There are many of us here on our ++ FD's Jonski, so go find another one (better one) and join the ++ club.

The car is not wrecked, but it's in very sorry shape. I had big plans for it, but I didn't plan on the **** storm that struck shortly after I left college. Last night my driver's side window switch broke while the driver's side window was down. It's just one of those things that happens to FD's, but with my new job, it's hard to find time to repair it, so it get's added to the list of ****-that's-broken-on-my-car. I always carry a toolkit with me, which I used it to remove the door panel and disassemble the switch. I was able to close the window by operating the slides by hand. No problem, right? I was still a little upset at this point so I just tossed the door panel into the hatch. I just looked at my car and thought, "What a piece of ****!" Realizing I never would have said something like that three years ago got me thinking.

Basically, my piece of **** is a vacation that I get to take twice per day, so I get upset when it breaks just a little bit more.

Well you can always consult this list to find a replacement. But seriously, sorry to hear man. We've all gone thru or will go thru the same sometime.

jonski, first of all tell me more about the switch (passenger or drivers side broken? or the electronics just took a crap?... i might be able to help) fatman... same goes for you... tell me all about it, i may be able to help

secondly, thanks jonski for adding some color to our drab forum... i once met this old mechanic that works on MGB's... (my dad has one) he is an extreemly wise man and i love bumping into him. anyway, we got to talking once about the MG versus other cars and why he only works on old british cars. he felt that the MGB was one of those cars that had a "spirit" to it... not just another rice tin car that was cranked out in the thousands. if you dont know MGB's they have horrible horrible problems with everything from electrical failures, to random overheating, to you name it.... basically they are just finiky cars that are... how do i say... quarky. when you hop in and take off, if something is wrong you can tell. when i drive it i always carry tools with me. i have been stranded in so many odd places/situations with that car it isnt funny... but she always seems to get me home eventually some how. you end up "knowing" the car cause you've been through so much together... its a relationship that really would never develop with something like a civic.

the FD has that sort of feel... i cant tell you how many times i have had to rip her apart on the side of the road. the FD is also one of those quarky cars that you come to love as well as hate. well now the MG is in the garage awaiting a full chassis restoration, and my dad and i share the FD as a weekend car now. but.... i couldnt help myself and decided to buy this totaled FD i saw that had a horrendous engine fire. talk about needing work.... i dont think ill ever put her back together (BTW Dcrosby, dont speak so soon about not putting that car back together.... most of the parts from that car you flipped are going into the engine fire FD... so your car lives on).

but yeah jonski, i have looked at my FD and thought "she deserves better"... the very next thing i did was reach into my pocket and hand the owner a cashiers check ! -heath

PS tell me about that switch (i have a hunch i can help :hint hint: )

Mine is just the switch which I talked to Ray Crowe and its 120$ for a replacement. I think I found a guy near here that may let his go (and I test it first) for 45$ so that may be good.

GoRacer....you have finally outdone your avatar master self with that pic. Where the fukk did you get that?

Jonski...you hit the nail on the head. With these cars we are all locked in with the wallet vs the end of the dream.

There are fewer and fewer nice 7's around. Though, on the bright side, there are more and more v8 destroyers rokkin the streets. A few years ago, 350+ rwhp third gens on the forums were harder to come by.

Mine hits Austin in two weeks. I've got the jonez til then. YEAH!
