You would be surprised at the mods his 90 na has. I've seen the list a few times in the second gen section . . . the best part is the "pineapple racing gas mileage port" job.

I have been lurking in this third gen section for a few weeks and am surprised at all the blown engine scares. I thought our FC's were touchy . . . sheesh you guys have some patience.

Here's a general run down of my 90.

Dual 2" manderl bent exuast (True duel), Removed double throttle, and coolant flow to TB. Ported black elbo before TB. Ported upper, middle, and lower intake manifold. Pineapple Racing 6 port sleeves with removed 6 port actuating rods and rods through the sleeves. An extremely mildly ported 13B built by Pineapple Racing. Jacobs ignition wires, Short shift kit, with FD shift ****, T2 fuel pump, Hi-6. and a Apex S-AFC. That made the 167rwhp. Now, I'm also running a 50 shot of nitrous. Rob said the motor should hold a 200 shot, but I'm chicken to try that much. When I have time, I'm gonna put it back on the dyno, run some race gas, some B11EGVs in it, and try a 150 shot. I have the jets, but I just wanna be shure I'm not running the motor to lean.

When I had the motor built by Rob, I told him I wanted something that would get the best fuel milage. What the center ports look like is a t2 housing, with the 5th and 6 ports just being cleaned up a bit. The exaust ports where barely touched. A very mild motor, that has a completely stock idle.

My wife is usually in control of the hose, and I usually end up soaked because of it. I do the scrubing, and we bolth dry it off with towels.

88- Once you drive one, you'll understand. (I don't know, maybe you have?) I've driven lots of cars over the years, and nothing feels like a FD. I simlply love these cars. Ever since they came out, it was my dream to have one. CJ

Nope I have never driven one. Turbojeff told me to not get an opinion on turbo rotaries until I drove his. I put the idea of such an encounter out of my mind because I don't want to risk messing up his car or worse, be underwhelmed by it like I was with my FC on the test drive because I couldn't find any curves to slam.

Really, all I like about the RX-7 is (in descending order)

Cornering ability and drive feel

Looks

It is reliable and runs good (Remember I have an NA)

The engine is really smooth

If I could get a V8 FD to handle like a REW FD, I honestly would pick the hybrid. The REW is looking like a real lemon from where I stand, probably because I am an NA FC and Honda owner.

. . . but remember I have not driven a real FD so I can't really know what they are actually like . . .

Well, some realy good news. I did a compression test, and it came in around 90psi on front and rear rotors. Now great, but not to bad either. Seems the ignition wiring was the problem I'm thinking at this point.

Bad part: As I was removing the upper intake manifold, preparing to rebuild the fuel system with some SS lines and some pretty fittings, I droped one of the chrome nuts off the UIM, and down it fell. I looked for around an hour, trying to search it out. Ended up tearing off the air pump, intake, ic, hard plastic peice for the turbo inlet, and a bunch of other crap. Kinda a pain. Finally found it down behind the OMP. Not fun at all.

I figured, since I have the air pump out, I might as well throw a 30" belt in there, and get rid of the air pump. Do some clipping on the wiring harness, to further clean up the engine bay. And just give the engine bay a good cleaning.

Thanks for the concern guys. CJ

if you do take out the airpump, you need to gut your cat tho...

The cats been gone for along time now. Incase you guys are wondering, Napa does stock a belt that allows you to get rid of the air pump, without having to buy pulleys. Its a 4 rib belt vs. the stock 5, but it'll work I'm shure. Its 29.75" long. Part number 040292. CJ
