Well, today took the FD out of storage to clean the cob webbs out of it. Got after it a little bit, but realy kept it under 6k rpms. Put maybe 30 miles on it. Came home parked it in my garage until it would be cooler out. That way I could wash it in comfort (And get my wife to help.
) and not worry about water spotting so much. Well anyways, started it up, and I noticed it kinda started a little hard. I thought that was funny, but payed no real attention to it. Pulled it out of the garage, and I noticed it ideling pretty rough, only around 500 or so rpms.....then looked down on the boost gauge. My hart sank...only like -10 hg (?) on my autometer boost gauge. Shut the car off, and did a vacuum line inspection. All seemed to be good. So I figured tomorow, I'll do a compression test. What I'm guessing is a cracked apex seal or something. O well, I've long thought the motor was getting tired. I just did'nt want it to break before I was ready to go with single/new pineapple motor.
Anyways, here's the pictures I promised.

I'm not sur if you have already check the line to the boost sensor, because if that vacuum line pop off under boost you will get a rough idle and -10hg vacuum on the gauage. I had this happen to me on a new rebuild that I though I had bolwn!!
So I hope your situation is the same as mine.

Hey Cj,
Like someone else mentioned, with a 500rpm idle you will get a low vacuum reading like that. Don't panic, find what is causing the idle to be low and you'll have it running fine.

I'm gonna take a look at it tomorow night probably. Been working way to much lately. Here's a picture. Hopefully aol will let me do this..CJ

Good visual check for blown motor: is the UIM shaking like mad? If it isn't, you're in luck, and everything should be ok. If it is... ouch.
Car looks great though, nice and clean all around. Looks like you take real good care of it. I hate even more to think it died on you if thats the case. Good luck, let us know.

Looks clean, the wifey did a good job for ya. I like the PIAA lights, a lil bigger then stock but i'm sure they are way brighter. Lic plate = VTEC this
Now to wash out your pants after you saw it die!
Seriously, it's probably not that bad. If it's idling at 500rpm the vacuum is going to be crap anyway. Even a brand new motor would be struggling to pull >10mmHg at 500RPM.
Pull the codes. When I forgot to hook up the idle solenoid I was pulling the same numbers.

My car has 47k miles on it as of now. I picked it up with about 44ish about 3.5yrs ago. Can't quite remember. But to be honest, they have been pretty hard miles. Most of those miles where put on traveling down to the drag strip.
I change the oil regardless of milage about every 6 months. Pull plugs and check them out, probably every 200 miles or so. Try to change rearend/tranny fluid every year or so. I maintain the car very well, but I also drive it pretty hard. The box has something to do with the PIAAs. Don't know what...but it says PIAA on it.
If you guys notice, there's a Turbojeff battery tray in my car. And there just happens to be a GB going on right now if anyone is interested.
Actually one of my PIAAs are burnt out too. Anouther thing to add to my "To do list" Along with change all the susp. bushings, put a fuel system in it, throw some Blitz Z1s on it, lower it about an inch/replace shocks, replace the R-1 lip, get a R-1 strut tower brace....egads...this is gonna get expensive.

Also, thanks guys for all the ideas. I'll tear into it for shure tomorow.
