Angry engine&tranny trouble...

I have a weird noise coming from under the hood. I can't really determine wath sort of noise it is, it's something between a belt that's slipping and a small boost leak... really weird noise. It mostly occurs when I'm driving around 3000 rpms. It doesn't change when I press the gaspedal, most of the time the noise dissapears when I press the pedal. I think it's coming from the turbochargers. But my car performs like it should. Allthough boost is sometimes a bit slow when I switch gears.
And my tranny, well... I'm having trouble with second and third, when the engine's cold it's hard to get it in second. When the engine's warmed up second and third sometimes rattle when switching gears... Syncro problem...?
Can anyone help me in the right direction as to solving the problems?

Good synthetic gear oil can help out big time with stiff shifting while the car is cold. A lot of people like Neo Synthetic.

Really hard to say on your odd sound. Tracking down sounds like that is tricky. I had a high-pitched squeak that I think was coming from the air control valve a while back, but it worked itself out . See if the sound goes away with the air pump unplugged.
