engine swap price ??

have a third gen... and i'm gonna swap the motor w/ a nasty modded motor... but i think the guy is trying to screw me on the labor to pull my old motor and put in the new motor... how long and how much do you think it should cost on an hourly rate..??? or just to swap the motor... no parts NONE....

second what can i get for a 3rd gen motor that is running right now w/ no problems... w/ 91k on it... the motor is completly stock......

any and all advice is welcome... thanks

mike

You tell me how much you want for it and condition of the APEX seals and so forth. Mine is at 92k miles and the seals are going out so i don't see why yours wouldn't be. But like whats the compression on them?
Is there alot of "blow bye" coming out of the tail pipe, alot of smoke during WOT?

Thanks

Motor swap usually runs about 900-1200 for gaskets and labor.

Check around first.

The one dealer in my area quoted an engine at 2500 plus 900 for installation. Another dealer quoted 1100 for installation and gaskets needed(ie exhaust/turbo/etc miscellaneous gaskets).

I don't know, but just to swap it out shouldn't take that long. Maybe 10 hours. The place that I go to would only charge me $400 for labor and they are a Mazda specialist shop too.

Yea it's all best to go to a specialist shop, because they know about rotary's the most usually and won't scrwe you cause they been there and might even own an FD themselves .
