engine swap

i need to swap out my old engine for another one. i did engine swaps on mumerous hondas but never did one on a rotary engine. is it very complicated? will the reman engine just drop in or do i have to mess around with anything? any helpful comments will be appreciated.

The engine being a rotary does not really change the level of difficulty of the job. However, the extra features that 3rd gen cars have under the hood will. Double check on everything when its ready to come out and make sure you haven't forgotten any wires, lines, or tranny bolts. Dropping in another engine isn't hard, but you will swap lots of parts from the blown motor to the new one before you drop it in- manifolds, accessories, etc. Putting the engine back in seems easier than pulling it, but that might be from the extra motivation you have for getting it to run. I'm in the middle of my engine pull right now. I haven't worked on it in several days, but it should be out within the next two sessions.

The biggest problem is when you try to reuse your parts, you will find that several things will happen. Brittle hoses if they have not been changed, tight spaces to maneuver, brittle wiring harness, etc. Make sure you have the complete motor and tranny (manual) bolted together and install as a complete unit. It makes it much easier. Also, spray the firewall boot seal with silicone just before trying to install. It will allow the boot to seat very easy compared to almost impossible without.
