Engine Pull and install!

Hey guys, just thought id show some progress on my Car at the moment. Just was outside with Syritis on the forums, and we've almost have the engine ready to be pulled out. This is my first run at this, so thank god someone with the knowledge that Syritis has came along to help me out!

Im going to Pull it get it rebuilt, with a nice street port, and thinking of steel braided lines, and im going to put a new clutch and light flywheel on it aswell. Thinking in Feb to get it rebuilt, and get it on the road in time for spring! CANT WAIT!

We ran into a little hitch with removing the tranny from the block. Is there susposed to be a screw you loosen to unhook it from the block, like the transmission fork. I could be asking this totally wrong, so if i am Syritis chime in lol.

Heres some pics of the progress! :icon_tup: :icon_tup: :icon_tup:

This might be the issue with the transmission. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...58290919&hl=en

ProjectD 01-20-08 02:59 AM

IMHO it'smuch easier to R&R the motor with the tranny attached.

Rx72Heaven,

There was a thread just a few days about this same issue:

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/clutch-release-confusion-722308/

There are a few good post in there (as well as the same video link as posted above). Good luck!

Smitter 01-20-08 10:35 AM

^^ yeah dumbass....

Rx72Heaven 01-20-08 10:42 AM

haha, yea. I didn't see it. Thanks for all the help though guys! The only reason i don't want to pull the tranny is cause i don't need it out. But we were contemplating maybe taking it out when we install it again, because i guess itd be easier to install both the tranny and the engine together.

Mahjik 01-20-08 10:52 AM

Well whether you separate it in the car, or outside of the car; the separate process is still the same. ;)

Rx72Heaven 01-20-08 12:20 PM

ye i know, just we may not "need" to do it so we'd be saving ourselves some work. But what ever is easier.

Rx72Heaven 01-21-08 02:15 PM

Hey guys, i want to get a fan controller, whats the best one out there? Also i wanting to get some steel braided hoses for the vac lines etc. Wheres the best place to grab some. I seen some on rx7store, but not exactly what im looking for.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Rx72Heaven 01-21-08 07:08 PM

any suggestions?

Zokus 01-21-08 08:06 PM

You want to use steel braided lines for the vac lines? Kind of pointless and redundant, not to mention expensive, don't you think? What about the abrasive qualities of SS hose against your fuel lines and wiring harness?

If you want the best, why not Viton hose?

Oh, and good luck with everything! My car is being refreshed over the winter as well.

Rx72Heaven 01-21-08 08:34 PM

Nice, I didnt mean Vac hoses sorry. Just like oil lines, and break lines. Looks like your cars on it way too though!

i want to get brand new plugs and wires, and a HKS Twin Power Ignition, Any thing more recommended then the HKS? Plus and wires, are the Bosch the best?

Northern7 01-22-08 07:50 AM

most people run magnecore (spelling) wires. They seem to be highly recommended.

Syritis 01-22-08 03:13 PM

NGK plugs and wires are what i've heard to be the best by far. also not that expensive. I use them without any problems

Rx72Heaven 02-03-08 02:18 AM

And im painting all the plastics int he car aswell. Im using truck bedliner, it gives a nice look, and a nice feel. Its not rough at all, just feels well made, i love it.

And heres a close up on the texture of the plastic.

Only use NGK rotary plugs available from Mazda or any of the vendors on this forum. I don't know if Bosh makes rotary plugs. Whatever you do, do not put regular plugs in there.

Rx72Heaven 03-09-08 02:41 PM

Yea i have the NGK wires, thanks for the heads up though ;)

skir2222 03-09-08 05:33 PM

Awesome, I had the same exact intercooler, did you buy it off of someone on the forum? Looking forward to seeing more pictures of the build!
