Engine Mount Question: Do I have to pull the motor again???

Hello all,

I finally got my engine re-installed lastnight and I accidentally reversed the side of the engine mounts. The car is running 450+HP, so I'm curious if this is a major problem, or if I would be okay. I do realize that they are different material, so any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

i'm pretty sure they are the same but just to be safe i would switch them back. and no you don't have to pull the engine just unbolt them from the sub-frame then either hoist or jack up your motor as far as you can and unbolt them from the motor.

they are not the same at all, I am amazed that they fit. You can switch them back, it really isn't that big of a job.

Jack the engien up with lift from oil pan or engine hoist. they then become accesible.

Hey Rxrot,

Both my motor mounts are passenger side motor mounts. My driverside motor mount was shot and I had a spare passenger mount so I used it instead. They fit fine and have not given me any problems for a couple thousand miles. Of course, I'm not running anywhere near 450+ hp . The only problem I see is the driver side motor mount does not have provisioning for the heat shield which protects it from the twinturbo's heat (not sure if you are still running twins or single). Another issue is if you do switch the motor mounts, the seal on the oil pan may be compromised since the motor mount bolts line the lower side of the oil pan.
The final decision is yours, but they do fit properly . --Tommy
