Also usually 3rd gen owners are not cheap. Cause, well... You cant be really.

 

Uh yeah, spending twice as much money in performance upgrades/repairs on a car then what it is worth is "cheap"?. i dont know if that is the word i would use to describe rx-7 owners.

just cause things on a 3'rd gen are expensive, doesn't mean that 3'rd Gen Owners aren't cheap... wait 'till you part out a car, and watch the rabble haggle for 80% off retail...

As far as a difference, I think so, I never had any serious high frequency noise issues inside the car like others with solid or ("Bolt") type motor mounts, but I also would state that I'm biased, and went through the extra effort, and would feel foolish if it was all for nothing.... But logic tells us that a metal on metal (Bolt) type connection would defeat or diminish any "Suspension" properties that a floating suspension would have. Given another 5-10 years I think mazda would have offered this to their racecar (mazdaspeed) customers, but we will never know...

 

Noltecs are the exception and do 'float'. IMO all the advantages of stiffer mounts but with no substantial increase in NVH.
They were about $200 but I understand they were out of production until last summer or fall. Apparently they're available again. A quick google showed this currently on ebay(I have no connection with the seller)......

There you Go... That seems like a better solution, as it seems like the bolts are offset, so there's no "one" bolt connecting the two parts, and there's a nice safety hinge in case there's an accident etc.. and they promise better than polyurethane suspension characteristics... as poly can be harsher than rubber. But that's what most people want "less play" in the trans / motor... when shifting... but that's a personal preference...
