Engine (motor) mounts
 

I hear some of you guys over here use 2 ice hockey pucks per mount, is it just a case of drilling through the middle and countersinking the nuts?
Any body recomend these or have any problems?

wow. I wouldn't do that. Use poly motor mounts.

No reason you couldn't use pucks. At $1 each they are basically free and I bet they are a little softer than the 90A urethane rods used in the link above. (Whish is too hard IMHO.) I carved up some pucks to create the "washer" on the bottom side of my urethane mounts. Works just fine.

Has anyone got a "how to do" the ice hockey mount mod then?

lift motor, drill a hole through the middle of the pucks, lower motor, thread the bolt through, tighten, done.

Canadians use hockey pucks for motor mounts, drink coasters, levelling off the couch in the basement, damn near anything.

dont the bolts just transfer all the vibration? at the very least you need rubber under the bolt head and nut.

Yep, but no more than the rest of the urethane mounts that have emerged over the past few years. With the exception of the Noltec mounts and the stockers, I believe everything else uses a through-bolt.

That is going to transmit a ton of vibration. I carry polyurethane mounts if you want something stiffer than stock but still tolerable.

What you should do / I did, was to carve away the rubber on the mazda mounts, and have someone or yourself, but be careful, because liquid Polyurethane is very toxic (Fumes), create a metal / tin cup, around the two pieces, and then pour polyurethane into the cup so that it flows in between the pieces like the stockers, but instead of rubber, it's poly, and holds up better to heat... and because it's "floating" it provides a true suspension, while if you put a bolt through you're about 1/2 a step away from using solid mounts....

I share your frustration with posts consisting of paragraph long sentences with no punctuation. And we probably agree that if someone is seriously looking for help, they should take a little time and construct coherent sentences with spelling above the third-grade level. to the OP, if you can afford it, I would stay with the stock mazda units, unless "your" hp goals "are" much higher than stock, but then you would probably be able to afford decent aftermarket units if you have already moded "your" car substantially.

Though hockey pucks would be a cool grassroots (albeit "gh3do") solution. If you do throw some pucks on, please show pics!

Or just buy the "revised" drivers side mount from Mazda.

I would agree with you whole heartedly, but last time I looked (1-2 years ago) when I made mine, there were none that mimic'd the stock setup of having a floating type suspension product. All aftermarket Polyurethane replacements I've seen are with the center Bolt...

Possibly, because poring your own isn't easy, and you have a lot of prep time, and RX-7 Owners are cheap, as indicated by this thread...
