Engine goes out to Gotham on Monday
Well guys I have finally decided to send the engine out to Gotham for their stage 3 port job. It has taken me awhile to decied where to send it, but this the help of the search button I was saved. I read as much as I could on who has built who's engines and it left me between Pineapple,KDR & Gotham. I talk to all three people on the phone and I like what Gotham had to say so they are the one.
Now with this new setup I am undecided who I will get to finish the car. I know that I will be the one to reinstall the engine and some of the other ecential stuff. As of the tunning and the whole rewiring of the engine bay I may go with RX7 Store or just send her back to Gotham. Still undecided with keeping the a/c and the power steering. What do you guys think?
Have you guys had good results from Rotarty Extreme's V-mount & dual oil coolers?
Which ecu is better/tuner friendly? Hltech or Apexi commander?
I'll post pics as things get done or parts come in.
Still need a drivers side door handle.
Still have lots of stock parts for sale.

Is the rebuild the only thing that you are having done at RX7 store.

My vote goes to take the car to gotham racing. And whichever ecu you choose they will do a good job with the install and tune. Steve Kan does amazing work, as well as all the other gotham guys.

Yup another Iowa FD guy. When I get her back together maybe we should meet up. I know a few guys in Dubuque.
kurrupt999 have you had work done there?
Guys on the board give props to Steve. I figure I should have them do the whole thing just for the fact that it is their engine. If you know what I mean

If you can afford it and Steve Kan is tuning it then I would get the Haltech over the PFC. The PFC is simple, plug n play, and easy for noobies toplay with but the Haltech is more advanced and gives more control.

While we are on the subject of Gotham Racing has anyone tried their turbo kits out. The guy that I talk to there said that since I am looking at the GT40R I should consider their turbo kits too. So I think that I will look into them.

The R85 is very comparable to the GT40R and a few hundred bucks cheaper so I would atleast give that a look too.

When I was searching around for a shop to rebuild my motor about a year ago I called KDR. After talking on the phone for a while I started to tell them what port I wanted (a large street port). They told me they have a port that has worked out good for them, has smooth idle, and is basically a very conservative port. They didn’t even want to listen to what I wanted. That left a bad impression on me so I called Gotham.
I talked to rich at the time, and he was extremely helpful. He connected me with Steve and we talked about my setup and what my options were. He was very open to what I wanted and didn’t try to change my mind. Well needless to say I am extremely happy with the work that they produced. I highly recommend Gotham for a rebuild.

When dealing with KDR, I always talk to Dave. He's more willing to do things your way than Skip is from what I've noticed. Needless to say, I got my large port from them.
