Engine diagnostics wont work!

Well, if you have been keeping track FD=55 ,

cover8 = NIL (getting my *** kicked boys!)

Replaced the EGI relay ($60) and still the injectors will not fire. Checked the grounds, injectors just cleaned r/c engineering and am getting fuel pressure but still no go. I did the tranny swap with a 5 speed harness so the smaller blue clip and white clip from the engine harness is still disconnected by the ecu.

I cant tell from the manual what those wires do...Does anyone know where the dash harness electrical diagram is in the manual or have a copy to fax/post? I have the basic manual without the complete electrical diagram...really need the dash harness diagram.

Attached the TEN to GND and the engine light stays on...just started having this problem so I do not know what went wrong. I replaced the ecu with my auto one and the CEL does the same thing...comes on goes off for an instant (with the airbag light) then comes on permanently...What gives?

Thanks

Wiring diagram

Cover 8,

I just went through an issue with differences between a 94 front harness vs 93 (airpump, fans didn't work)... In the process I got a 94 and a 93 wiring diagram (shows all the connectors/ wire color etc). I can send you pics of a few pages that may help. Let me know which harnesses you have that are affected by the swap (i.e. Front harness (auto) connects to the ECU (93 manual), the EL unit (auto?), the dash harness (auto?)... If you match all the connectors you will likely find the variance.

Thanks mcf! Not sure which year the 5 speed harness is...but my auto dash harness is a 1993. I do not have the auto harness anymore but the white clip is alittle smaller than the dash white clip so they do not fit together even though they probably should fit. I connected the wires that matched exactly between the two...which was only three. The blue clip from the enigine harness has nothing to connect...still dont know were this goes. I am wondering if those wires are preventing the injectors from getting a pulse signal...something like an switch that must be made to make injectors fire.

thanks for the feedback! pics would be great!

I don't know how much help this will be but...

Nocab (forum member) had posted a video racing a Cobra, and the camera car (RX-7 chasing) had done the 5-speed swap (speedo didn't work and someone asked and Nocab said he had just done the 5-speed swap - that's how I know)

Maybe if you contact Nocab, he might be able to hook you up with that dude. Maybe he already posted in your other thread??? Or maybe you already talked to him???

Cover8,

Sounds like you are describing what Mazda calls the X-07 connector, and yes - it is a different size on the auto than the manual. I need some specs from you to really help - here's my understanding:

Engine harness is manual, but you don't know the year. Try and get a number off the harness and I can fairly easily tell you what year it is from. The number will be somewhere on the harness itself.

Front harness (the one that wraps all around the front) is what? Is that 93 auto as well?

Dash harness is a 93 auto.

Thanks again fellas! All of the wiring except the engine harness are from an 1993 auto fd. The engine harness is from a 1993 5 speed--I think. Everything on the engine harness is terminated except the white and blue clips that go through the firewall. On the auto dash harness, the white clip (female) and one huge blue clip is unterminated. The huge blue clip I am told is a recall. I also have a smaller black clip that used to go to the auto tranny ecu. The other small black clip is terminated to the black box that mounts to the back of the ecu.

thanks

Cover8,

I was wrong - the white connector is called X-05. Unfortunately, my pictures are too difficult to read. PM me a fax number and I can get what you need to you in the next day or so.

Well guess I'll find out from Pettit if the ecu is bad...hopefully that is all that is wrong.

keep up with the feedback...

Dave at KD called me and told me some good news ands is going to fax me the latest wiring diagrams.

The white connector that was unterminated from the engine harness has 8 wires. Those all have to be terminated to the manual harness that does not fit from the auto dash harness. The auto dash harness has more wires than the white male clip from the engine harness...the remaining unterminated wires on the dash harness white clip control the auto selector which is not needed on the manual.

The white clip from the manual engine harness controls:
MAP sensor (3 wires)
Reference feed to map sensor
Water temperature (white w/yellow tracer)
and some other stuff (he is sending me the wiring diagram)

The little blue clip from the engine harness must also be terminated to the auto dash harness someway. The blue clip controls starter (bypassed) and fan control but most importantly it tells the ecu the engine is turning so it needs to fire the injectors.

He is going to fax me the wiring diagrams to do this work...I will post when I'm finished.
