emissions and air pump removal
i know this has been covered,,but im looking for a complete guide.. at moment searching is just giving me little bits of info.
anyone teach me a little about the emmisions,,, i know the air pump blows air into the CAT to improving emmisions level,
So i can remove the air pump and buy a free wheel pulley to go in its place (am i mistaken or a pulley is needed to get good waterpump pulley contact at high speed)
Now i need to know about the switching and releif valve under the intake manifold,, what exactly do they do,,,im thinking it controls the amount of air directed to the CAT. if i blanked off all the pipes and removed the valve,, the 2 solenoids that control switching will need some sort of resistors in there place,,,,although im about to install apexi power FC,, so are there resistors still needed.
last thing,,,once all the emmisions are removed ,,and i bin the CAT in favour of a mid pipe or cat replacment,,, how will the car run,,,will it still run ok.
If all this work has no real advantage,,,think ill leave it all alone,, im wanting to clear the engine bay,,thanks for any input,,,,if you have a link to a good site,,,please post it,,thanks

If you decide to remove the air pump you can just buy a Greddy pulley kit which removes the air pump. Removing the emissions dosent have much of an advantage except cleaning up the engine bay and making more important things more accessible. If you sitck with the stock ECU you will need resistors for the solenoids you wont be using or your stock ECU will throw codes. With the PFC resistors are not needed. If you decide to remove the emissions and go for a midpipe the car will be alot more responsive with a very noticeable increase in HP but you will also notice an increase in boost creep/spiking. To prevent this you should get a boost controller or If you get the PFC there is a solenoid that you can buy that controls boost through the PFC.

Just get the greddy pulley kit or get a airpump removal pulley kit from rx7store or pettit, etc. You dont need an idle pulley the kit consists of the alternator pulley and the water pump pulley and they are underdriven and go right to the main drive pulley.

Hmm, I'm also thinking about airpump removal, The only thing I'm conserned about is emissions control, will it still be legal? I would have to go with a high flow cat cus no cat is illegal over here(->sucks...)
