I was curious on this too....I assume noone would ever know if your state does not check emissions

lol, no one would know? How about when a flame shoots out of the exhaust... That's a pretty good sign that the emmisions equipment has been removed.

Also, some states may not have emissions, but they do have provisions on the amount of noise that can come from a street driven car. I remember someone in CA posting about getting a ticket for that, not sure what other states have laws like that....
