Glad it's working for you guys!

The two pipes coming around the intake manifold are for the air pump. The top one is the relief, that's the one you cap for the moo sound. The bottom one is the inlet for the air pump air - there's a short hose going from that pipe to the air pump itself. Both of those pipes are heading toward the air control valve on the intake manifold.

another vouch for Dale being DA MAN. I just put on a aftermarket BOV on a GReddy elbow and for some reason i started gettting ALOT of noises from the air pump. I had been running the stock BOV with a Apexi Dual intake with the restrictor in the tube that runs directly from the airpump to the intake. I always thought that was the hose that needed muffling. I never had the moo problem with that setup untill i changed the BOV, then i was getting all kinds of noises. Needless to say i did exact what you reccomended and the problem is gone. I still have the restrictor in the other line though (airpump to intake).

just THANK YOU

anyone want to do me a favor? I can't source the rubber stopper here in japan. If someone can buy one, drill it appropriately (I don't have a drill here either), and add the clip - I'll paypal you for the cost, and the cost of sending it to me.

In return, I'll owe you a favor :p

In fact - if there is any OEM part you want, I'll get it for you, and waive my normal fee (4000yen). This has got to be a good deal for someone!

Dale....recently and probably a lil right after i installed this "mod" i experienced a lot of air noises. The sound is exactly that of a boost leak. It most definately is coming from the air relief that this rubber cap with holes is supposed to cover. It only happens from like 2k- 2.5k when the primary is spooling. IT is also only when im driving normally and not trying to boost.

It is just a little annoying to hear this loud rushing air on and off, on and off. Im going to go back and put the intake hose back on the charge relief but intall the machined muffler that came with my Apex'i intakes. Right now that piece is in the hose that is directly off the air pump. Im almost positive that switching the piece will cure the charge relief noise but just give me the mooo headache.

any insight? I have boost set on my controller at like 7 psi.....would that affect anything? Should i turn it back to 10? Ill post results

-Ted

Hey Dale,

I took the hose from my Air-pump to the lower pipe out. I also did a mod like yours except I used the "HELP" Vacuum caps "3/4 inch" I think. It's a stretch but they work well. The only difference is that I didn't drill any holes in the caps. Do you see any problem with that? I haven't noticed any problems.

BTW, the air pump is still present but not connected to anything.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Here is a picture of the rear of an M2 intake:

Look at the air pump inlet pipe attachment - same solution it seems. I think the stock unit has a baffled box with an outlet hose heading down into the engine bay.

Nice!!

I put a small breather filter on it and i think thats the noise im hearing. Not to mention the filter sticks a bit high so i have to really close the hood hard otherwise it wont close.

dale..

your idea works great, but every time i get on it(it seems). the chair cap blows off. i tried putting insanly tight clamps on. doesnt make a difference. it still blows off! i cant deal with the moo anymore, its driving me crazy! i am running out of chair caps and clamps and now i'm up against a wall. i really dont like the other silencer options, and i plan on here soon, removing the airpump. i am just really curious as to why yours and mahjiks stay on, and mine keeps blowing off??

Make sure you get a cap that fits tight to start with, then add a clamp. I've always used an OEM spring clamp. Also, you may not have enough holes in the anti-moo deal - it might be putting too much pressure on the cap.

i did mine exactly how you did yours. there was no difference whatsoever. 5 holes in a 7/8 size chair cap. thats why i am so perplexed??

so you just cover the air pump with a chair cap and its god to go? i wasn't sure if you cover the air pump hole with it or the hole close to the intake manifold cuz i tried covering the hole close to the intake manifold and it would just fly out when i rev it lol

Advanced auto parts has a rubber plug assortment with 2 of each size plugs, and the biggest ones fit great. Cheap and strong (I tried lowes/homedepot's and after a few months the rubber plugs split apart from the heat I guess). The Automotive plugs are much better than plastic or that crap rubber.
Hope this helps!

I guess the link in the original post is out of date; clicking on it gives me this:

"Warning : To complete installation, you must install VBScript runtime version 5.6.

Hey 4CN AIR,

How did you resolve the problem with your airpump cap blowing off? The cap I got with my Fighters Garage Intake just blew off on the way to work this morning after 6 months.

Thanks for any ideas.
