Electrical help :(

Ok guys, this one is nasty. For some reason, after the car heats up it will just shut off while I'm driving or not start after i drive let it sit for a few minutes then try to restart. All the electrical in the car still works, it's like it's getting no fuel or no spark. i've changed the main relay and fuel relay, i've checked the wires going to the coils. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

When you say the car shuts off while driving meaning just the engine or everything electrical related is shut down?

If its all electrical, then you have a deeper problem. If its just the engine that shuts down, you might want to test/replace your ignitor.

It is only the engine that stops, all the electronics inside stay on, just as if i had the key to acc2 but hadn't started the motor yet. The car does 84000 miles on it, i'll see if i can test the ignitor tomorrow. Thx

same problem

I started my own thread before noticing this we should consolidate. here is where I am with this problem.

Hey, I'm stumped with this. If any of you guys have any ideas I'd appriciate it. My 93 Rx7 will start right up and run fine when the car has been sitting for a long time. But when the car gets up to opperating temperature and I shut it off (like to pump gas) It will turn over and run for like 2 seconds then the idle drops and the car shuts down. If I wait a few hours it will start up again no prob. I suspected something temperature related so I have replaced the thermostat, coolant level sensor, fuel temp sensor, jumped the fan realays and had the fans on the entire time (no effect), replaced the water temperature thermo switch, and replaced the fan thermo sensor (on the back of the block with the thermostat) I think this is some kind of electrical problem but have no idea where to go . plese help

don't think it's the alternator because everything else stays steady, just the engine dies and the battery is fully charged. Even when i'm coasting with the clutch out right after the engine dies all the gauges are working, all but the RPM gauge. I'm thinking it has to do with fuel or ignition. I'm going to have the ignitor tested on monday. Could the crank sensor be causing this?

looks like we've got the same problem. when it gets hot the engine falls on its face. i've tried to work around this by looking at voltage readings off the datalogit. This happens when i;m at the track and its a bitch to drive.
