Electrical Guru's please look (a/c related)

First off, im new here and this site kicks ***, i've used it to diagnose the problem to the best of my abilities by using that wonderful search button however i've not seen this issue posted on before (regarding the cig lighter)

Ok guys heres the situation

when i first got the car, the blower motor wouldn't kick in (even on setting 4).

So i actually removed the dash (omg pain in the ***) and then proceeded in checking every little connection according to the FSM.

Eventually i took the control unit apart and found some corrosion on the poteiometer and cleaned it and reassembled everything and TESTED it all with the guage cluster out.

It worked fine actually and the blower motor kicked on BUT when i put the cluster back in it stopped working. The A/C light woudl come on and the a/c compressor kicked on but no blower motor.

So i check the diagram and the only thing related remotely to the heater blower motor on the cluster is the Cig lighter, so I unplugged that. Great the blower motor runs now but the A/C light is no longer on and the compressor doesn't engage. So I can only seem to get one or the other, not both working.

Anyone ever run into anything like this before????

Breakdown:
Cig lighter plugged in, Blower works fine, a/c magnetic clutch (and dash light) do not engage.
Cig lighter unplugged, Blower doesn't work, a/c magnetic clutch and dash light engage.

WTF!

The simplest explanation I can think of is it's a nasty short.

Everything worked fine when you had things pulled out as the condition that caused it changed or was no longer present. When you put everything back, it's possible that something was hitting something else that caused that condition.
